Chandigarh October 16: Haryana Cabinet which met under the chairmanship of Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal here today approved the creation of new Directorate of MSME for development and promotion of MSME in Haryana and further approved the work distribution in the Industries and Commerce Department amongst Directorate of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Directorate of Industries and Commerce and Directorate of Supplies and Disposals, in Haryana.

Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector is acknowledged as an engine for growth across the country, particularly due to its contribution to the country and Gross Domestic Product, Economic Growth and its ability to create a large number of jobs. Haryana has taken various steps for the development of overall MSME ecosystem in the State in the past few years.

Therefore underlining this fact, in a bid to strengthen MSMEs in the State, a separate Directorate in the Department of Industries and Commerce is required to give focused attention to the development and growth of MSMEs.

Directorate of MSME will be responsible to make policies, schemes for the overall development of MSMEs including Khadi and Village Industries, Cotage Industries, Handicrafts, Handlooms, Powerlooms, etc. in the State and make them globally competitive. This Directorate will help MSMEs to access credit, common facilities, tool rooms, etc. legislations viz. MSME Development Act, 2006, Punjab Khadi and Village Industries Board Act, 1955 and Punjab State Aid to Industry Act, 1935. It will also administer the work of Traders Welfare Board instead of Excise and Taxation Dept. It will also provide various fiscal and non-fiscal incentives, infrastructure support and technological support to the MSMEs so that they can compete locally as well as globally.
