Chandigarh November 11: In a bid to bring Global City Gurugram which is also known as Economic Capital of Haryana on the world map, Haryana Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal today announced that Gurugram will be developed as ‘smartest city’ in the country. For this, the Chief Minister also proposed to set up a new Municipal Corporation in Manesar and develop a new Gurugram city in this area.
The Chief Minister was speaking after inaugurating Project Air Care and two projects for the beautification of Gateway of Gurugram on Gurugram-Mehrauli (Delhi) road, through video conferencing here today. Chief Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Mr. D.S. Dhesi was also present on this occasion.
The Chief Minister said that Gurugram and Faridabad being the metropolitan cities of the National Capital Region, separate Metropolitan Development Authorities have already been constituted for both the cities here. Air pollution is a matter of concern for all of us in these cities and in view of this, two projects ‘Air Care' have been started today to clean the air.
The Chief Minister said that along with Gurugram and Faridabad, Karnal has also been included in the Smart City Project. In these cities, there is a need to develop facilities like water management, security system, public transport, buildings, good governance, e-education, telemedicine in accordance with smart norms and infrastructure is also being developed accordingly. He said that these two important projects which have been inaugurated today are a part of this plan.
Congratulating and wishing the people of Gurugram for these two projects, Chief Minister said that these projects have been inaugurated as Deepawali gift. He said that with a view to provide prompt administrative services to the people of Gurugram, Tower of Justice is also being constructed at Gurugram at an estimated cost of Rs 180 crore. He said that the Public Works Department’s Rest House is known as State of Art which is also the pride of this city.
