Chandigarh, December 8 - Haryana Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal presided over the 7th meeting of the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority in Gurugram today. GMDA's important projects and progress were discussed in detail during the meeting and the Action Taken Report of the decisions taken in the previous meeting was also reviewed.
During the meeting the construction of Sheetla Mata Medical College and Hospital in village Kherki Majra was discussed and it was informed that a 650 bed hospital along with medical college and a 100 bed capacity trauma centre will be built. This medical college will be equipped with advanced facilities which will have 250 seats for medical education. An amount of Rs. 981 crore will be spent on this project. This medical college and hospital will have a residential facility for staff as well as student hostels and will conform to the Green Rating for Integrated Habitat Assessment (GRIHA-4) standards.
During the meeting, the proposal to increase the width of the road from Hero Honda Chowk to Captain Umang Bhardwaj Chowk from 30 meters to 60 meters was approved. Widening of this road for about 2.5 km length will cost about Rs. 200 crore. The existing power sub-station in Sector-10 which is in the way will be replaced with a GIS sub-station. Apart from this, the existing six-lane road from Rampura Chowk to Pataudi Road located on National Highway No-48 will be upgraded. About Rs. 63 crore will be spent on this project.
The meeting also approved the detailed project report for the construction of two tertiary treatment units of 75 MLD capacity at Dhanwapur in Gurugram district and 90 MLD capacity at Behrampur. These two units will cost Rs. 27.30 crore and Rs. 33.11 crore respectively and this expenditure includes the cost of operation and maintenance of these two units for five years. Both these units will be ready in two years. These units are being built keeping in view the directions of the National Green Tribunal. The NGT had directed that the sewage water must be of good quality before it is dumped into the river. On the existing STP in Gurugram district, the Chief Minister said that plans should be made to use the treated water of all STPs for industries and irrigation so that pure drinking water can be saved.
During the meeting the proposal to construct the drain along with CPR was also approved. The drain will be built at a cost of about Rs. 135 crore in which NHAI and GMDA will have an equal share. The project also includes construction of Culvert on Sohna Road near Vatika Chowk at a cost of about Rs. 20 crore.
A detailed mobility plan for the city of Gurugram was also discussed in detail during the meeting. In view of the estimated population of Gurugram in the year-2041, the topics related to the inclusion of buses on the local routes, metro, cycle tracks and other modes of transport etc. were discussed in detail. It was informed in the meeting that work of metro service on four different routes is underway in Gurugram district.
It was also decided during the meeting that due to COVID-19 all the buses of city bus GMCBL in Gurugram are not being used, so 40 buses will be sent from here to Faridabad Metropolitan Development Authority (FMDA) to start city bus service in Faridabad.
It was further decided during the meeting that a provision will be made to give one percent of the two percent amount of stamp duty to the urban local body to the GMDM. For this, the proposal will be discussed in the upcoming cabinet meeting. Apart from this, 10 percent cess on property tax has also been discussed. In the meeting, Chief Executive Officer, GMDA, Mr. VS Kundu said that after getting permission to open liquor vends in the Green Belt falling in the area of the Authority, in the last meeting, its policy was prepared, which has generated an income of about Rs. 2.50 crore to GMDA. In the meeting, it was also decided to make a policy to lease a place to set up petrol pumps and nurseries in the green belt.
Joining the meeting via video conferencing from Chandigarh, Principal Secretary, Town and Country Planning, Mr. A. K. Singh said that out of the amount received from EDC, an amount of Rs 100 crore will be transferred to GMDA. Additional Chief Secretary, Finance Department, Mr. T.V.S.N. Prasad also joined through video conferencing and assured that an amount of Rs 300 crore will be released to the Town and Country Planning Department after December. Out of this, Mr. A. K. Singh assured to provide about Rs. 150 crore to GMDA.
Transport Minister, Mr. Mool Chand Sharma, Mayor, Mrs. Madhu Azad, Chief Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Mr. DS Dhesi, Media Advisor to Chief Minister, Mr. Amit Arya, Additional Chief Secretary, Urban Local Bodies Department, Mr. SN Roy, Public Safety Advisor, Mr. Anil Rao, Commissioner, Gurugram Division, Gurugram, Mr. Rajeev Ranjan, Deputy Commissioner, Gurugram, Mr. Amit Khatri, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Gurugram, Mr. Vinay Pratap, Gurugram MLA, Mr. Sudhir Singla among others were present during the meeting.
