Chandigarh, January 8: Haryana Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal today unveiled the new model of Gurugram University. During the unveiling, Mr. Manohar Lal said that since ancient times the Guru-Shishya tradition is been followed in Indian culture and Gurugram University is keeping this tradition alive.
Citing the example of Guru Dronacharya, he said that Guru-Shishya tradition has been guiding the world for centuries. There have been many such great personalities, whose gurus had played an important role in grooming and giving new direction to their lives, he added. He said that even though the nature of Guru-Shishya tradition and teacher-student has changed with the changing times, the role of the university in building a civilized society and a strong nation is equally valuable today. If today's youth is hardworking and disciplined, then the future of the country will definitely be bright. In such a situation, the role of the university definitely becomes very important.
On this occasion, Vice Chancellor, Gurugram University, Dr. Markanday Ahuja said that they are fortunate that the new model of Gurugram University has been unveiled by Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal. Throwing light on the concept of Gurugram University, he said that it was their endeavor to adopt modernity, yet remain rooted in Indian culture because our motto is ‘Vidya Jeevanaay Na Tu Jeevikaay' ie knowledge was linked with livelihood till now, however, we have worked towards connecting it with life.
He said that the new green campus of Gurugram University is being built in Sector-87 of village Kankrola, about 15 km from Gurugram. The master plan of Gurugram University has been prepared in the shape of Lord Ganesha. Master Plan includes Administration Block, Auditorium, Faculty House Building, Pharmaceutical Science Block, Physiotherapy Block, Life Science Block, Science Block, Engineering Block, Commerce and Management Block, Humanity and Science Block, Law Block, University Health Center, Animal House Block, Workshops, Central Library, Innovation Centre, Athletics Track, Hockey Grounds, Basketball and Badminton Courts, Vice Chancellor’s Residences, Employee Housing, Girls and Boys Hostel, Service Block, Parking, Temporary Office and Canteen are included. The construction of this university will be completed in the next three years.
On this occasion Vice Chancellor, Shri Vishwakarma Skill University, Mr. Raj Nehru, Vice Chancellor, Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak, Dr. Rajbir Singh along with Registrar and Deputy Registrar of Gurugram University were also present.
