Chandigarh, February 8: Haryana Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal visited the residence of Late Mr. Darshan Lal Jain in Jagadhri today and expressed condolences to the bereaved family members. Mr Darshan Lal (94), the founder of Saraswati Research Institute passed away today. He is survived by two sons and two daughters.
Mr. Darshan Lal was cremated with state honour today. The contingent of Police presented guard of honour as a mark of respect to the departed soul.
The Chief Minister said that he is deeply saddened by the demise of Mr. Darshan Lal Jain. He said that Mr Darshan Lal had always rendered selfless service to the society and for this he would be long remembered.
He said that besides the freedom movement of the country, Mr Darshan Lal made vital contribution in the fields of education and social service, especially in the rejuvenation of Saraswati River. The Chief Minister said that he had a long association with Mr Darshan Lal who always worked with the approach of uniting the society.
Mr Manohar Lal said that the contribution of Mr. Darshan Lal Jain in the rejuvenation of Saraswati river had been paramount. He said that it was only due to his persistent efforts that steps have been taken for the rejuvenation of the river and added that by successfully implementing this prestigious project, we could pay tribute to Mr Darshan Lal in a real manner.
