Chandigarh, March 12– Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal said that this year the State Government is also focusing on 100 per cent collection, source segregation, transportation, processing and disposal of solid waste.

The Chief Minister, who also holds the Finance portfolio, disclosed this while presenting the State Budget for the year 2021-22 during the ongoing budget session of the Haryana Vidhan Sabha today. On this occasion, he announced a budget outlay of Rs. 663.20 crores for Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM) in budget estimates of 2021-22.

He said that present pro-people government is committed to transform municipalities into strong and robust institutions of self-government. A number of steps have been taken for empowering them through decentralization.

He said that the construction work of Waste to Energy Plant of capacity 6.77 MW with the Integrated Solid Waste Management, Sonepat-Panipat cluster is in progress. It is likely to be operational by April, 2021. In addition, the survey of properties across all the ULBs is likely to be completed shortly. The survey of 37.25 lakh properties has already been completed.

Similarly, survey for the identification of urban street vendors has been completed in 84 ULBs, wherein 1.02 lakh street vendors have been identified. He said that 78 ULBs have issued 44,828 Provisional Certificates of Vending. 24 ULBs have issued 7,958 SMART ID cards to street vendors. The survey has been conducted for identification of urban homeless families, wherein 11,543 urban homeless families constituting 19,015 urban homeless population, have been identified in the State.

 In the Swachh Survekshan 2020 conducted by the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, four Urban Local Bodies of Haryana – Karnal, Rohtak, Panchkula and Gurugram – have been found best performing ULBs among the top 100 ULBs in the category of cities having 1 lakh to 10 lakh population. Municipal Council of Charkhi Dadri has been awarded the first rank as ‘Fastest Mover City’ in the north zone in the category of cities having 50,000 to one lakh population.
