Chandigarh, April 12- Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal today inaugurated first of its kind 10 KLD STP plant at Papiha Park, Fatehabad in collaboration with Japanese company Daiki Axis India through video conferencing. This sewerage water treatment plant setup at a cost of Rs 21 lakh.

The Chief Minister while congratulating the citizens of Fatehabad said that this sewerage treatment plant has been established as a pilot project. The state government will consider setting up such projects for water conservation and reuse of water across the state after studying the same.

He said that this year the state government has set a target of reusing 25 percent treated water and this scheme is proving to be effective in horticulture, industries and thermal plants. In next year 60 percent of the water will be reused. Budget has been arranged for this, he added.

He said that water remains a matter of concern all over the world today. Water requirement is increasing day by day due to increasing population and requirement from industries. But the availability of water is limited and therefore everyone has to install such type of Sewerage Treatment Plants to meet the water shortage. Dedicated efforts should be made for water conservation to meet our water requirements, he said.

Sh. Manohar Lal said that the state government has made several schemes for water conservation and sewerage treatment plant. Different technologies are being used in the state. The sewerage treatment plant set up at Fatehabad is a new project, in which new technology has been used and the benefit of which can be taken in the future.

The Chief Minister expressed confidence that with the support of Japanese company Haryana will increase their target and work together on the water treatment plant. The company will be given all possible support for such tasks, he asserted.

He said that the state government is emphasizing on water management. Considering the high water consumption in the paddy crop, farmers are being given an incentive of Rs 7,000 per acre for adopting crop diversification under the 'Mera Pani Meri Virasat' scheme in the state. On 94,000 acres of land, farmers have adopted crop diversification, which has greatly benefited in water conservation.

Similarly, a detailed plan is being worked out under the Atal Bhujal Yojana of the Central Government and Jal Jeevan Mission to prevent wastage of water.  An Authority has been setup to stop the exploitation of water in the dark zone and public awareness is being done about water conservation.

Minister (Economic and Development), from the Embassy of Japan, Sh. Shingo Miyamoto, Secretary (Environment and Economic Section), Embassy of Japan Sh. Yuki Yoshida, Additional Chief Secretary, Irrigation and Water Resources Department, Sh. Devender Singh, President and CEO of Daiki Axis India, Sh. Hiroshi Ogame, Deputy Commissioner, Fatehabad, Dr. Narhari Singh Bangar and other senior officers also joined the program through video conference.
