Chandigarh, May 20 - The proactive steps being adopted by Haryana Government under the leadership of Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal to prevent the spread of COVID-19 Pandemic, especially in Gurugram, was today appreciated during the meeting held under the Chairmanship of Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi with Chief Ministers of 11 State and District Magistrates of 60 districts held through video conferencing today.
Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal, Deputy Chief Minister, Sh. Dushyant Chautala and Health and Home Minister, Sh. Anil Vij along with Administrative Secretaries joined the meeting from Chandigarh.
During the meeting, Secretary, Ministry of Family and Health Welfare gave a detailed presentation on the arrangements being made since last one year to tackle the ongoing Pandemic. He also shared the future strategies to be adopted for the containment of the virus spread.
Divulging details on the new innovations, arrangements and strategies being adopted by the States Secretary, Union Family and Health Welfare shared that the steps taken by Gurugram District Administration for COVID-19 Testing and Vaccination Campaign are included in the ‘Best Practices’ to deal COVID-19 Pandemic.
The District Magistrate, Gurugram, Dr. Yash Garg apprised the Prime Minister that first of its kind ‘Haryana Rural General Health Check Scheme’ has been specially implemented by the State Government for conducting health checkups in the rural areas. Under this scheme, door to door house survey and screening facilities are being provided in every village. Under this scheme, two teams at Field and Headquarters levels have constituted to conduct door-to-door surveys. He said that Asha Worker, Anganwadi Worker, School Teacher, (especially including science teachers on priority), Panchayati Raj representatives and Health Volunteer are included in the Field team, informed Dr. Yash Garg.
Meanwhile, the Field teams while conducting these surveys, are closely identifying those having COVID-19 like symptoms, on one hand Headquarters teams are ensuring treatment of such patients at Isolation Centres set up in villages, he added.
He further informed that specially prepared COVID safe kits are being provided to every patient who is undergoing treatment in the Isolation Centres. The kit includes 15 medicines, medical devices, nine allopathic, three AYUSH medicines, streamer, digital thermometer and oximeters. Apart from this, RTPCR and RAT tests of people are being done in villages.
Dr. Yash Garg informed that so far six lakh doses of COVID-19 vaccination have been administered in Gurugram, which is 30 percent of the total population. So far 14 lakh COVID-19 tests have been conducted in Gurugram.
He said that the COVID-19 positive rate in Gurugram was 33 to 35 percent last year. Presently, by adopting a new strategy the same is brought down to 10 to 12 percent. He said the availability of 1500 to 1800 new beds has also been increased.
He informed that apart from the patients of Haryana, treatment of the patients coming from other states is also being done. Around 35 to 40 percent of the patients coming from Delhi and neighbouring states are undergoing treatment in Gurugram hospitals. For the last 10-12 days number of active number of COVID patients per day in Gurugram was above 5000 days, which now has came down to 1000-1100 after adopting new strategy.
Dr. Yash Garg also informed that 144 villages come under the jurisdiction of Gurugram district and 6,000 tests have been conducted in the last five days and now a target has been set to conduct testing of entire rural area of the district in next five days. Besides this, a 50-bedded COVID Hospital has been set up in every village and these hospitals have been connected to city hospitals.
He informed that Gurugram is an IT hub, so a portal was launched for the residents so as to ensure that they get all the necessary facilities and information related to COVID-19 through online. In this portal, data of 102 hospitals were uploaded. The availability of doctors, beds, oxygen is also available on the portal.
Through the portal, 10,000 oxygen cylinders were transported to rural areas across the state, while 1000 cylinders were transported in Gurugram itself. Besides this, the 1905 helpline number has been made functional.

Sanjeev Kaushal, Additional Chief Secretary, Health and Family Welfare Department, Sh. Rajeev Arora, Additional Chief Secretary, Medical Education and Research, Sh. Alok Nigam, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Sh. V. Umashankar, Additional Principal Secretary to Chief Minister and Director General, Information, Public Relations and Languages Department, Dr. Amit Agrawal, Deputy Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Smt. Ashima Brar, Director General of Police, Sh. Manoj Yadava, Advisor/CM, Sh. Anil Rao were also present.
