Chandigarh, May 26 - 'Khelo India Youth Games -2021' which are being organised in Haryana now will be concluded in just ten days. The games are scheduled from November 21 to November 30, 2021. This information was given during a review meeting of Khelo India Youth Games -2021 held under the chairmanship of Haryana Chief Minister Sh. Manohar Lal today. Haryana Minister of State for Sports and Youth Affairs, Sardar Sandeep Singh was also present during the meeting and the officers of Sports Authority of India also attended the meeting through video conferencing.

The fourth edition of the 'Khelo India Youth Games -2021' will be held in Panchkula, Ambala, Shahbad, Delhi and Chandigarh from November 21 to November 30, 2021 and 90% of the games being held in Panchkula. Also, the BRICS Games 2021 in which volleyball game will also be organised in collaboration with Khelo India, which will give these games international recognition. The BRICS countries include Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa.

On this occasion, the Chief Minister said that Khelo India Youth Games -2021 is a very prestigious and high level competition. These national level games are being organised for the first time in the state, which is a matter of great pride. Haryana Government will ensure the best arrangements for the upcoming event for which preparations have been already started for its smooth conduct. It is hoped that the players of the state will get a new identity from Khelo India and at the same time they will also get an opportunity to showcase their talent.

He directed the officials that construction of infrastructure for organizing these games should be completed soon. All the concerned departments should organize these games successfully with mutual coordination. He said that a committee should be constituted under the chairmanship of the Principal Secretary for budget monitoring in organizing the Games, besides this formation of the Organising Committee under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Shr. Manohar Lal also got approved. The Chief Minister also directed to hold executive committee meeting after every 15 days and organising committee meeting every month for reviewing the preparation of the event.

He said that the launching ceremony of Khelo India Games will be organised soon. In this ceremony, distinguished sportspersons will be participate and traditional sports from different states will be showcased.

Director of the Department of Sports and Youth Affairs, Sh. Pankaj Nain said that under-18 category games will be organised in the Khelo India Youth Games. There will be 25 types of games will be included in this event, including five traditional sports such as Gatka, Kalaripayattu, Thanga-ta, Malkhamb and Yoga. Players from across the country and abroad will participate in these games. He informed that about 8,500 participants will take part in the 'Khelo India Youth Games -2021'. Apart from this, Sports Expo will also be organised. These games will be organised jointly by the Government of Haryana and Sports Authority of India (SAI), Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India. He said that the work of repairing and renovation of multipurpose hall, ground, track etc. for organising the games is being accelerated at a rapid pace and soon will be completed.

The meeting was attended by Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Sh. V Umashankar, Deputy Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Mrs. Ashima Brar, Additional Chief Secretary, Revenue and Disaster Management Department & Finance Commissioner, Sh. Sanjeev Kaushal, Additional Chief Secretary, Public Works (Building and Roads) Department, Sh. Alok Nigam, Additional Chief Secretary, Urban Local Bodies Department, Sh. S N Roy, Principal Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs Department, Sh. Apoorva Kumar Singh and other officers were present.
