Chandigarh August, 5: Haryana Cabinet which met under the Chairmanship of Chief Minister Sh. Manohar Lal here today approved a proposal regarding transferring of  the administration of the Haryana Compulsory Marriage Registration Act, 2008 to Citizen Resources Information Department (CRID).

Given that CRID is the nodal department for handling of all citizen resources information and marriage constitutes a key element of the family structure information, it is decided that the nodal department for the administration of the Haryana Compulsory Registration of Marriages Act, 2008 and the rules and actions there under be CRID by making appropriate amendments in the Business of the Haryana Government (Allocation) Rules, 1974.

It is pertinent to mention here that it was on April 26, 2020 CRID was constituted, with the specific task of implementation of the Parivar Pehchan Patra (PPP). Over the last year and a half the Parivar Pehchan Patra database has seen registration of over 64 lakh families with 2.48 crore individuals.

CRID has also linked the PPP database with the birth, death and marriage registration systems. The online marriage registration portal https://shaadi.edisha.gov.in    of the State Government was developed by CRID in December 2020 and is the designated portal for receiving applications for registration of marriages and scheduling of appointments. Presently the technology system for registration of marriages in Haryana is maintained by CRID.
