Chandigarh, August 11:   Haryana Chief Minister, Sh.  Manohar Lal said that after making Haryana as a leading Agrarian and Industrial State, the state government is now focused on moving towards a high Ease of Living Index for the people of the state. 

The Chief Minister was speaking during the plenary session titled ‘Haryana at India @75 and Going India@100 organized as a part of the annual meeting of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII)- 2021 held through video conferencing here today.  While the theme for the CII Annual Meeting is ‘India@75: Government and Business working together for Aatmanirbhar Bharat’. The session was attended by CII Office Bearers of the Northern Region and Haryana along with renowned industrialists. 

“After steadily ushering in a new era of corruption-free governance, we are now focused to chalk out such plans wherein Haryana can rapidly move towards ensuring Ease of Living for the economic upliftment of the people of the state along with improving the rankings on Happiness Index.  The state has already made its mark on Ease of Doing Business graph,” said Sh. Manohar Lal while answering a query regarding the state government’s next 25 year vision.

The Chief Minister said that in the year 1966 when Haryana was separated from Punjab then it was said that Haryana would not even be able to pay its employees. Today, 55 years since its inception, Haryana has proved itself successful on many parameters: Education, Health, Sports, Agriculture, etc.

Describing the role played by Haryana in realizing the vision of Atamnirbhar Bharat, the Chief Minister, said that the main objective of the State Government is to build Haryana as the most suitable investment destination on the world map.

“As Haryana has emerged as one of the preferred investment destinations for domestic and international investors. We will ensure that all potential investors coming to Haryana do not face any difficulty. Every possible cooperation will be ensured to the investors,” said Sh. Manohar Lal.

Making Haryana a Sports Hub

The Chief Minister said that every possible effort is being made by the State Government to provide a dynamic and innovative culture to promote sports and ensure maximum participation of state youth in sports.

He said that while promoting sports facilities in the state, Haryana would be made a sports hub.  Despite having only 2 percent of the country's population, in Olympic 2020 squad, out of the 126 members, about 30 players from Haryana have not only participated in the world’s biggest tournament five players of the state won medals three individual and two in Hockey, which is highest by any state.

Haryana’s growth story after 1971

Sharing Haryana’s growth story after 1971, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Sh. V. Umashankar said that Haryana is the economic powerhouse of the North region. The uniqueness is that both in terms of the social sector and agriculture sector and even in the sports arena, Haryana has been amongst the torchbearers, he added.

He further shared that Haryana was barely known as an agriculture-led economy but in the last 20 odd years it has become one of the most leading industrial and service sector economies of the country as well.  The GDP of the State has seen a major boost in the last 10 years amongst the highest in the country and it has been constantly ranked among the top three fastest-growing states in the country.

Haryana’s transformation as a growth magnet

Sh. V. Umashankar informed that Haryana ranks third in terms of Export Preparedness Index 2020. The State has the highest concentration of BPO workforce in the world and has also made it to India’s largest automobile hubs. Furthermore, Haryana ranks at the top position in terms of consumer expenditure. The State is the third-largest exporter of software and second-largest contributor of food grains to the National Pool.

Setting up of Foreign Cooperation Department

Sh. V. Umashankar said that in a bid to promote Haryanvi culture and welfare of Haryanvi Diaspora a special department namely Foreign Cooperation Department has been set up.  The department ensures participation at bilateral and multilateral events and also formulates country-wise strategies for investment promotion and generate employment, he added. He said that the department also promotes Haryana’s interest in a foreign country for trade and investment purposes.

Principal Secretary, Foreign Cooperation Department, Sh. Yogender Chaudhry, Director General, Foreign Cooperation Department, Dr. Anant Prakash Pandey, Adviser, Foreign Cooperation Department, Sh. Pawan Choudhary and other senior officers also remained present during the session.
