Chandigarh August 19:- Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal has called upon the alumni of Kurukshetra University to contribute in the progress of the University. He also urged them to provide effective career advice and guidance to the students pursuing studies in the University.
The Chief Minister was addressing 'Pratismriti Alumni Meet: 2021' programme online organized at Kurukshetra University today as the Chief Guest. During this programme, the Chief Minister also inaugurated alumni registration portal i.e. Kukaa.kuk.ac.in, a multi-purpose sports hall and other educational programmes for the alumni.
On this occasion, the first registration was that of the Chief Minister on the Alumni Registration Portal by Kurukshetra University. Besides this, the Chief Minister also agreed for registration as the first student in Japanese language course. The Chief Minister also released a ‘Pratismriti Alumni Reconnect Souvenir’ and a jingle related to ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ on this occasion
Besides bringing laurel to the name of the educational institution, the alumni should also contribute towards the progress of the institution, he added. He said that the alumni have not only achieved special identity in various fields but also brought laurels to the name of this university and Haryana as well. He said that Kurukshetra University is the first university in the state which was established 10 years before the formation of Haryana. The talents emanating from this university have contributed a lot in the overall development of Haryana.
It is noteworthy that Kurukshetra University was founded by the great freedom fighter, jurist, scholar of various languages, the first president of India, Bharat Ratan, Dr. Rajendra Prasad. He said that the University has maintained its decorum as per the expectations of Dr. Rajendra Prasad.
The Chief Minister said that we all feel proud as the University has provided many educationists, research scholars, administrative officers, technicians, engineers and entrepreneurs to the nation. In the field of politics, Haryana Minister of State for Sports and Youth Affairs, Sh. Sandeep Singh, MLA, Sh Subhash Sudha also studied in this university. In the industry sector, Company Secretary of Hero Honda, Mr. I.C Kamboj, has also been an alumnus of this university. Kurukshetra University is a big asset of the country, he added.
He said that as a result of the achievements of its former students, the University had achieved the status of A-plus grade. He said that it is our duty to be a contributor in the progress of the institution as it has provided a platform to achieve great heights.
The Chief Minister said that the land of Kurukshetra is the land of supreme knowledge which is associated with the name of Bhagwad Gita, Lord Krishna and Arjuna.
With the inspiration of the Chief Minister, the alumni of the university working in various fields across the world have donated about Rs. 39 lakhs for various development works related to alumni association and the university.
On this occasion, the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof Som Nath Sachdeva expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister for joining the programme and motivating the Alumni during the 'Pratismriti Alumni Meet: 2021'.
