Chandigarh, September 8: Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal, has thanked the Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi, for further hiking the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for Rabi crops for 2022-23. The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, at its meeting chaired by the Prime Minister in New Delhi today, approved the increase in the MSP for all Rabi crops for the marketing season 2022-23.
In a statement issued here today, the Chief Minister welcomed this decision and said that this decision of hiking the MSP is certainly another step taken towards doubling the income of farmers by the year 2022. He said that with this decision, farmers will definitely be getting additional income with a higher return on production costs. This decision would prove to be a boon to improve the economic condition of the farmers, said Sh. Manohar Lal.
He further said that the Central Government under the leadership of Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi is serious about the interests of farmers and hiking the MSP before sowing season every year clearly shows the seriousness of the Central Government towards ensuring economic upliftment of the farmers. Increasing the MSP of crops before the sowing season will certainly help the farmers to decide which crops they have to sow, so as earn more income, added the Chief Minister.
Sh. Manohar Lal further said that with the increase in the MSP of Wheat by Rs 40 per quintal, the new MSP of Wheat is now Rs. 2015 per quintal. Similarly, with the increase in the MSP of Barley by Rs. 35 per quintal, the new MSP is Rs. 1635 per quintal, with the increase in the MSP of Gram by Rs. 130 per quintal, the new MSP is Rs. 5230 per quintal.
Likewise, the MSP of Lentil has been increased by Rs 400 per quintal, hence the new MSP of Lentil is now Rs. 5500 per quintal further with the increase of Rs 400 per quintal in the MSP of Rapeseed and Mustard, the new MSP is Rs. 5050 per quintal and the MSP of safflower is increased by Rs. 114 per quintal, hence the new MSP is Rs. 5441 per quintal.
