Chandigarh, October 22: In a bid to ensure that no talented student belonging to a poor family loses a chance to pursue their dreams, Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal today announced free of cost education for those whose verified family income is less than Rs. 1.80 lakh per annum under the State Government's ambitious Parivar Pehchan Patra scheme.
The Chief Minister made this announcement while interacting with the students who have cracked Civil Service Exam-2020 and JEE Advance Exam -2021(Under Super 100 Programme) during a state-level felicitation programme held today at Panchkula. Education Minister, Sh. Kanwar Pal, Vidhan Sabha Speaker, Sh. Gian Chand Gupta, MP, Sh. Rattan Lal Kataria also remained present on this occasion.
Congratulating the students who have cleared the country’s most prestigious Civil Services Examination 2020, Sh. Manohar Lal said, “Each one of you should remember that you have decided to opt for civil service as a career option for serving the society as during your service period you will get innumerable opportunities to work in the diverse fields. Therefore, I expect that each one of you will certainly try your level best for achieving excellence to make Haryana proud."
While boosting the morale of the 29 students coming from poor backgrounds who have cracked JEE Advance 2021, the Chief Minister said, “All of you are a great example that if you have talent, no one can stop you from achieving your dreams, no matter if you belong to the poor background. I hope that all of you will make Haryana proud in whichever field you will opt for. I also like to laud the hard work of your parents for giving you the right academic environment to chase your dreams," he added.
The Chief Minister said that in 2014 when he had been sworn in as the Chief Minister, ensuring overall and equitable development was his utmost priority. However, among all other sectors, bringing revolutionary reforms in education was his primary focus, for which many new unique schemes and milestones were formulated and set up by the State Government.
New Education Policy to replace old age 'Three R's' education system
The Chief Minister said that the education system of Lord Macaulay was focused on the 'Three R's': Writing, Reading and Arithmetic, which did not ensure the holistic development of a citizen.
Hence in a bid to make the younger generation educated along with also inculcating the feeling of nationalism in them NEP-2020 has been launched.
While, in Haryana, we have already started working towards ensuring implementation of this Policy by 2025, 5 years ahead of the national target of 2030. Every department involved in this has been directed to work dedicatedly in this direction.
KG to PG to be implemented from this session in the Kurukshetra University
Sh. Manohar Lal said that as per New Education Policy-2020, such educational institutions are being set up in the state, in which education will be provided from KG class to PG level.
"Initially we are going to make an arrangement of imparting education from KG to PG in four universities. While Kurukshetra University has already started preparing for admission to be given under KG to PG scheme from this academic session that is 2021-22," said Sh. Manohar Lal.
Mission Merit
The Chief Minister said that there was a time when academic achievements did not have importance because of Parchi Kharchi system. The youth had lost hope of getting jobs on merit but giving them a ray of hope, Mission Merit was started in Haryana under which around 83000 appointments have been purely made on a merit basis during the last tenure of the present state government. This not only boosted the morale of the youth but inspired them to continue doing hard work, added Sh. Manohar Lal.
Human interface replaced with Digital reforms
The Chief Minister said that at present digital reforms have been brought to replace human interface in almost every wing of the government. Online teachers transfer policy is one of the greatest examples of this as under this system more than 90 percent of teachers are satisfied. Similarly, various online reforms are being brought in to make the system paperless, faceless and transparent.
Happy that Centre has recognized the hard work we have done in the last 7 years
In the last seven years, we have been doing various works to bring in revolutionary reforms.
“While working in the spirit of Antyodaya, ensuring government welfare benefits reaches those at the bottom of the pyramid, sometimes we even felt if we are moving in this right direction or not but I am now satisfied and overwhelmed that Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi has recognized our hard work, said Sh. Manohar Lal while thanking the Prime Minister.
Haryana which once was known as an agrarian state is now outshining in the field of education as well
Speaking on the occasion, Education Minister, Sh. Kanwar Pal said that Haryana has also been known as an agrarian state but the way the state has outshone itself in the field of education with the increasing number of students cracking these highly competitive exams clearly highlights the stupendous work done by the state government in the field of the education sector.
"I hope that these students will make Haryana proud in whichever field they go. I also like to laud their parents who too have sacrificed something or the other so as to give them the right academic environment to achieve their dreams," he added.
Can't express our gratitude towards Chief Minister in words
Earlier the students who have cracked the JEE Advanced examination by getting free coaching under the state government’s Super 100 Programme, expressed their gratitude towards the Chief Minister for giving them a golden opportunity through the Super 100 programme, which they had not even dreamt to achieve.
Most of the students belonging to poor backgrounds shared their stories as to how they always dreamt of getting admission in IIT but their financial status restrained them from taking costly coaching for cracking the competitive JEE examination, but the unique Super 100 programme started by Chief Minister not only helped them to achieve their dreams but has also given a ray of hope to deserving students like them that they too can pursue their dreams.
Meanwhile, thanking the Haryana government, besides their teachers, family and friends, for changing the face of the education sector with unimaginable education reforms, Devayani, who bagged rank 11 in Civil Service Exam-2020, said that she feels very proud and happy that she belongs to Haryana as despite being a small state as per geographical area, the increasing number of students cracking UPCS, JEE and NEET shows how Haryana is set to become a leading state in terms of academics as well.
Echoing the same, Pranav Vijayverghia, who has bagged All India Rank 65 in the UPSC examination and has also worked as a Chief Minister's Good Governance associate (CMGGA) during the first year of the Chief Minister's Good Governance Associate program in 2016-17 said, "I wholeheartedly thank the CMGGA programme and especially Chief minister and Program director for giving me the opportunity to get a clear understanding of the working mechanisms of the District Administration
