Chandigarh December 5 - Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal on Sunday inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of nine different development projects worth Rs.190 crore in district Karnal, including a new building of the Municipal Corporation constructed at a cost of Rs.16 crore He also inaugurated the Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC) set up at a cost of Rs. 153 crore on the second floor of the building.

In a programme organized in Sector-12, the Chief Minister today initiated a flurry of development works for Karnal district. He said that with the formation of Integrated Command and Control Centre, criminal activities would be stopped and traffic facilities would run smoothly. On this occasion, he also inaugurated open air gyms constructed at a cost of Rs 4.5 crore in the parks of Karnal Smart City. Similarly, he laid the foundation stone of green belt parks of Sector-6, 13 and 14 to be constructed at a cost of Rs. 2.34 crore, the foundation stone for development and beautification work from Namaste Chowk to Mira Ghati Chowk at a cost of Rs. 4.83 crore, and foundation stone for the strengthening of the road from Hansi Chowk to Namaste Chowk at a cost of Rs. 4.86 crore. The Chief Minister also laid the foundation stone of digital library to be built at a cost of Rs 71.23 lakh at Ram Nagar and Budha Kheda. The Chief Minister inaugurated oxygen plants of capacity of 250 liters per minute and 600 liters per minute at General Hospital, Nilokheri and CHC, Gharaunda, respectively.

While addressing a gathering,  the Chief Minister congratulated the residents of the city on the inauguration of the new Municipal Corporation building, ICCC and other development projects and said that these projects will provide many facilities to the people and their lifestyle will become better. He said that a few years back the office of the Municipal Corporation at Ghantaghar Chowk in the city was inadequate, there was a lot of crowd. Now the new building has been built at a suitable place, which is convenient for all. The building will house rooms of Mayor, Municipal Commissioner, Senior and Deputy Mayor, two lifts and toilets for differently-abled and general people. Centralized air-conditioning and 10 windows of civic amenities have been made available as well. The new building is situated at a place where places of public dealing like mini secretariat, judicial centre, electricity, HSVP and big branches of various banks are situated. With this, all government facilities will be provided to the public at one place.

Various works being done under smart city

        The Chief Minister said that Smart City Limited has not one but different dimensions. Under this, many projects have been materialized, most of which have already been completed. ICCC is also one of them. Although the ICCC has been set up in Gurugram and Faridabad but the centre established in Karnal has some features, which are not in any centre across the country. To control the traffic, the traffic lights installed at the intersections are controlled with the help of thermal cameras, for example, the green light will remain on for a long time to move the lane in which more vehicles are stopping. He said that the aim of the centre is to integrate all the civic services of the city on a single platform and provide better services to the citizens by connecting various departments and agencies on one platform. Traffic light sensor cameras have been installed at intersections to facilitate traffic flow. In this arrangement, Adaptive Traffic Control System and Automatic Number Plate Recognition cameras are installed at various intersections of the city. Apart from this, there are also emergency call boxes and panic buttons, which on pressing will alert the police directly in the control room. Message display boards have also been installed at intersections from where public information and directions are given to citizens. Environmental systems installed at two locations will provide information on pollution levels and air quality. He said that with this project of third eye, security, monitoring and traffic of the city will be organized, there will be freedom from traffic congestion. ICCC will work 24 hours. The Chief Minister indicated that such centres would be set up in other districts of the state as well.

On this occasion, the Chief Minister also inspected the new building of the Municipal Corporation office at Karnal and watched a live video wall in Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC) in Municipal Corporation building.  Deputy Commissioner and CEO, Karnal Smart City Limited, Sh. Nishant Kumar Yadav was also present at the venue who appraised the Chief Minister regarding the technical information, solutions and different components of the ICCC. The Deputy Commissioner apprised that 105 Thermal Cameras under ATCS, 211 cameras at 35 intersections under ITMS, Speed Violation cameras at 10 locations, more than 300 CCTV cameras, 35 variable message boards and Environment Sensors at two places have been installed.

On this occasion, Mayor, Smt. Renu Bala Gupta expressed her gratitude to the Chief Minister for the arrangements, beautification and provision of facilities for the city through various projects.

On this occasion, Indri MLA, Sh. Ram Kumar Kashyap and Nilokhedi MLA, Sh. Dharampal Gondar, BJP District President, Sh. Yogendra Rana, Superintendent of Police, Sh. Ganga Ram Punia, Municipal Commissioner, Sh. Manoj Kumar, Chief Minister's representative Sh. Sanjay Bathla were also present.

District Vigilance Committee formed to check corruption: Chief Minister

During his visit to Karnal, Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal while interacting with media persons said that a District Vigilance Committee has been formed in Karnal, which would solve corruption and similar complaints at the earliest. District Vigilance Committee will be made more active to crack down on corruption and all the complaints received from them will be resolved within a stipulated time period. The Chief Minister released the book Haryana Journalists Association Souvenir-2021 'Media Ke Badalte Roop' by senior journalist Sh. KB Pandit on the occasion. Sh. KB Pandit welcomed and felicitated the Chief Minister on the occasion.
