Chandigarh, December 21 - Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal said that 18000 ponds are to be renovated by Haryana Pond Authority. Of these, plan for 550 ponds has been prepared, apart from this, construction work is going on for many ponds.
The Chief Minister said that the work of renovation and construction of ponds would prove effective in improving the depleting groundwater level in the state. Besides this, ponds are being renovated and constructed to get rid of the problem of waterlogging in many areas.
The Chief Minister said that work of Pond Authority is continuously going on. Increasing the tenure of the experts working in the Authority is necessary so as to ensure that the work of the Authority do not suffer.
The Chief Minister was replying to a question on the discussion on the Pond Authority Bill during the winter session of the Haryana Vidhan Sabha.
