Chandigarh, January 7 - Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal while lashing out at Congress for making unnecessary political statements about 34 percent unemployment rate in the State based on the unrealistic report of the Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE) said that the actual unemployment rate in Haryana is only 6.1 percent.

Addressing a press conference here today, Sh. Manohar Lal while terming the report as baseless and a bundle of lies, clarified that the Parivar Pehchan Patra programme is being implemented in Haryana for the past three years, under which around 98 percent of the families have been registered.

Education Minister, Sh. Kanwar Pal and Additional Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Dr. Amit Agrawal also remained present on this occasion.

"Till date a total of 65,78,311 families have been registered and the figure of registered population figure is 2,57,99,000. Of which 1.73 crore people are in the age group of 18 years to 58 years, out of which 10,59,530 persons have declared themselves unemployed", said Sh. Manohar Lal.

He said that on the basis of these figures if the unemployment rate is calculated, then the unemployment rate of Haryana comes to only 6.1 percent. However, since Congress has a habit of spreading rumours, they are highlighting the unrealistic figure of 34 percent released by CMIE.

He said that when people are not considering themselves as unemployed, then on what basis Congress is beating the drum of the high unemployment rate in the state.

"CMIE releases data on the basis of a sample of some people; in that sampling, they had adopted various tricks to defame the State Government by releasing unrealistic figures like 34 percent. Doing this kind of petty politics over such fictional figures is not correct. It is always beneficial to only share correct and factual figures. If needed action would be taken against CMIE for pressing such unrealistic figures, said the Chief Minister, while responding to a question.

The Chief Minister said that even the NITI Aayog and the Central Government never paid any heed to such fake reports. NITI Aayog considers the survey conducted by the National Statistical Office (NSO) for all policy decisions. NSO had launched Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS) in the year 2017 under the Union Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation and the latest reports presented by them are available online.

“Combining the survey reports of these two together, the unemployment rate in Haryana shows a lot of variation. The PLFS has shown the unemployment rate in India at 9.4 percent while in Haryana it is at 10.3 percent during January-March 2021. But CMIE has shown unemployment of 7.4 percent in the country while 29.3 percent in Haryana during the same period, shared Sh. Manohar Lal.

The Chief Minister said that the CMIE has never shown the actual figures in its report as in the month of November last year; the company has shown the unemployment rate in Haryana at 29.3 percent. Although, even this report is also far from the reality as within just three months now they are calming that the unemployment rate in Haryana is 34 percent, which is itself contradictory. Therefore, the opposition should immediately refrain from giving statements on such misleading figures.

“CMIE, as its name suggests, is a privately owned company formed for profit-making. Therefore, it cannot be said to be fair and free from bias. It has been the habit of the Company to degrade the image of State Government by presenting a false picture of the employment scenario in the State on the basis of fictitious figures,” added Sh. Manohar Lal.
