Chandigarh, February 26 - While realising the dream of the Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal of a clean and green environment, the Forest Department, Haryana has released an amount of Rs 9,71,92,170 to the Electricity Department for the construction of Oxy Van. The amount released will be used for removing the poles and underground wires in the area where the Oxy Van is to be developed.

Sharing more information in this regard, an official spokesperson said that on June 5, 2021, the Chief Minister, Haryana, Sh. Manohar Lal  had laid the foundation stone on this land spanning across an area of 80-acre and 4.5-km long starting from Sector 4, Karnal to Madhuban Canal. While setting the time limit for the construction of Oxy Van, he had said that the concerned departments would complete this ambitious plan within the stipulated time and it will also enhance the natural resources.

Haryana Forest Minister, Sh. Kanwar Pal said that with the construction of Oxy Van, such a centre of PRAKRITI DARSHAN will be available to the new generation, which will inspire them to become the protectors of environment.

Additional Chief Secretary, Forest Department, Sh. A.K. Singh informed that lines have been laid for many feeders for 33 KVs substation so as to meet the power demand in this entire area. An estimated cost of Rs 9,71,92,170 was submitted by the Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam for the shifting and underground cabling of the sub-station, which was released by the Forest Department on February 23. He said that Oxy Van will be constructed at a fast pace as soon as the power lines are shifted.

Principal Chief Conservator of Forests Shri Jagdish Chandra informed that the proposed Oxy Van will include 14 types of components which include Chit Van, Pakshee Van, Antriksh Van, Tapo Van, Arogya Van, Neer Van, Rishi Van, Smaran Van, Suvas Van, Amphitheater, Information Centre, Library, Light and Sound Show, Sovereign Shop.

This Badshahi drain of Karnal has notable history. Earlier, water for irrigation and drinking used to be supplied till Delhi through this Canal. At present, sewerage water of city is being treated through underground sewerage treatment plant near Sector 4, so as to prevent sending polluted water to Yamuna. The purpose of creating Oxy Van is to provide a healthy living environment to the citizens, as well as to make people aware and connect them to the age-old relationship with different types of plants and herbs.
