Chandigarh, February 28- Haryana Governor, Sh. Bandaru Dattatreya said that as per the vision of Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi, the country will get a new identity globally in the field of science and technology by developing a system of learning at the school level which will reshape the vision of "New India-Modern India". The Governor said this while addressing the Haryana Vigyan Ratna and Haryana Yuva Vigyan Ratna Award Distribution Function organized by the Department of Science and Technology at Raj Bhavan on National Science Day here today. Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal and Home, Science and Technology Minister, Sh. Anil Vij were also present on the occasion.

Sh. Bandaru Dattatreya today presented Science Awards to 11 scientists, out of which two women scientists have been awarded Haryana Vigyan Puraskar. This is the first time in the history of Haryana that women have been conferred with this award. On this occasion, he said that it is very proud to award four women in the field of science in this programme. To empower women in education and other fields, the Haryana government is working with a positive mindset and the women of Haryana are progressing in every field. Apart from this, during the Covid-19 pandemic, the scientists of India worked strenuously day and night to develop a preventive vaccine against Covid-19, which has also been sent to more than 90 countries of the world.

In order to promote science, a Science City is being set up in the NCR region at a cost of Rs. 191 crore and Aryabhatta Science Centre will be set up in Ambala with an estimated cost of Rs. 85 crore. These projects will prove to be a milestone to attract students towards science.

Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal said that science and technology has made life easier. He said that scientists have done commendable work in changing the direction of life of people. The education of science is being promoted by the government at the school and college level and scholarships are being provided to the students in many fields. He said that it is the endeavour of the government that young scientists should get awards at the state level so that they motivate to work for the progress of our country.

He said that in the present transformative era, science should be used for the upliftment and peace of mankind. If science is used in moderation, then the country will progress continuously and they will have a positive impact on the environment as well.

Haryana Home, Science and Technology Minister, Sh. Anil Vij said that efforts are being made for uplift of research in the field of physics, besides improving infrastructure in medical education. He said that the use of scientific techniques proved effective in the Covid-19 pandemic which made the health sector self-reliant. Use of technology for the welfare of society will definitely touch new heights.

Sh. Vij said that to promote astronomy and astrophysics, a constellation has been established in the memory of Kalpana Chawla. Apart from this, to promote science from class XI, scholarships ranging from Rs. 1000/- to Rs. 3500/- along with science competitions and science conclave are being organized at district level. He said that science students participating in Olympiads are being encouraged.

 Haryana's outstanding scientist Prof. Neeraj Jain and Prof. Mukesh Jain for 2019, Prof. Motilal Madan and Dr. Sushila Mann were awarded Haryana Vigyan Ratna Award for the year 2020 and Dr. Chetan Prakash Kaushik and Dr. Illora Sen for the year 2021. He was honoured by presenting a citation, trophy and a shawl and cash award of Rs. 4 lakh. Dr. Pooja Devi and Dr. Ram Jiwari were honoured with Haryana Yuva Vigyan Ratna Award for the year 2019, Dr. Pawan Kumar and Sh. Satish Khurana for the year 2020 and Dr. Kalpana Nagpal for the year 2021. He was also honoured by presenting a citation, trophy and shawl along with a cash award of Rs. 1 Lakh.

On this occasion, Haryana Chief Secretary, Sh. Sanjeev Kaushal, Additional Chief Secretary, Dr. Ashok Khemka, Sh. A.K. Singh, Additional Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister and Director General Information Public Relations, Sh. Amit Kumar Agrawal, Secretary Governor Sh. Atul Dwivedi, Director, Science and Technology, Sh. Chander Shekhar Khare and other senior officers were present.
