Chandigarh, March 2- Taking giant steps towards transforming Haryana through a ‘Go Global Approach’, Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal met Singapore’s High Commissioner to India, Mr. Simon Wong here today.

The delegation from Singapore had an extensive dialogue with the Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal regarding the lucrative opportunities in Haryana for Singapore companies to invest in the State and said that these companies are keen on collaborating with Haryana due to its industrial-friendly policies.

Mr. Wong who was appointed High Commissioner to India on June 30, 2020 had detailed discussions on various projects and collaborations in upcoming sectors like the solar energy and was impressed by the Skill Training Institutes in the State. The Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal also gave various suggestions like setting up of Inter-Disciplinary Centre for research purpose in Haryana.

The High Commissioner suggested that India has a rich youth dividend and the Singapore companies can cash in on it. Among the key points discussed during the meeting, Mr. Wong gave various constructive feedbacks which were appreciated by the Chief Minister.

Sharing an anecdote, Mr Wong said that during a virtual conference organized by the State Government in November 2020, the Singapore company representatives were surprised when the Chief Minister while addressing the conference spoke in Malay language. He said the participants of the conference were spell bound by the address of the Chief Minister. He elaborated that the Skill Training Institutes in Haryana will surely groom the youth of the State and they will be trained to work in leading industries.

The delegation appreciated the efforts of the Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal in combating the COVID-19 situation. The Chief Minister said that our government has strenuously worked to ensure that every citizen of Haryana is rendered COVID-appropriate medical facilities during the COVID-crisis. He elaborated that now the COVID graph is on the decline and the situation is under control so the State Government will now give impetus to development.

In the meeting, Chief Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Sh. D.S. Dhesi, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Sh. V. Umashankar, Principal Secretary, Foreign Cooperation Department, Sh. Yogender Chaudhry and several other officers were present in meeting.
