Chandigarh, April 3– Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal on Sunday laid the foundation stone of 5 development works in Karnal district under Smart City Project at a cost of about Rs. 31.50 crore.

Among these, he laid the foundation stone of sports stadium to be built at a cost of Rs.14.04 crore and construction of roads and streets in Phusgarh village at a cost of Rs. 3.70 crore and renovation of road to be built from Tau Devilal Chowk to Maharana Pratap Chowk at a cost of Rs. 4.08 crore. Also, Rs. 5.83 crore for development of 21 parks in Sectors 32 and 33 and Rs. 3.78 crore for laying of foundation stone of wall of Community Centre at Sardar Milkha Singh Stadium and gate and yoga shed. He also announced an indoor stadium for the game of Kabaddi to be built at a cost of Rs. 2 crore.

The Chief Minister said that players would be benefitted from the hockey stadium which is to be built at a cost of Rs.14.04 crore in Kailash village and national level hockey competitions would be organized in Karnal district.  While sharing about 63 roads to be constructed at a cost of Rs. 3.70 crore in Phusgarh village, which will be 4 km long, he said that this village is the main area of Karnal coming under the Fusgarh Municipal Corporation.  This development work is being completed while fulfilling the demand of the residents of this area.  With the completion of this work, the people of the surrounding areas will also be benefitted.  Similarly, speaking on the reconstruction of Meerut Road being built at a cost of Rs 4.08 crore the Chief Minister said that it is an old and primary road of the city which is being developed under Smart City Project. The Chief Minister while speaking on the foundation stone laid under Smart City Project at Sardar Milkha Singh Stadium said that an area of 10,000 square meters is being covered here in which a hall and yoga shed will be built. He added that this will benefit the players of indoor games.

Sharing about the development of parks in Sector 32 and 33, he said that a total of 21 parks would be developed under the Smart City Project, which would cost about Rs 5.83 crore.  This will also give better facilities to the people there. He said that there is no dearth of funds for development works. The development will be carried forward in the same way in future as well.

Mayor Karnal, Smt. Renu Bala Gupta, BJP District President, Sh. Yogendra Rana, Media Coordinator, Sh. Jagmohan Anand, Deputy Commissioner,Karnal, Sh. Anish Yadav and other senior officers were also present on the occasion.
