Chandigarh, April 5: Haryana Cabinet which met under the Chairmanship of Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal here today accorded approval to a proposal regarding shifting administrative control of Haryana Chowkidara (Watchman) Rules, 2011 from Home Department to Development and Panchayats Department, Haryana.

The ‘Village Chowkidars-Administration of the Punjab Chowkidara Rules’ was allocated to the Home Department in Business of the Haryana Government (Allocation) Rules, 1974, The Punjab Chowkidara Rules have been repealed by the Haryana Chowkidara (Watchman) Rules, 2011.

The Development and Panchayats Department is administering matters relating to Chowkidars including revision of honorarium and other benefits, since 1996. Therefore now the Cabinet has approved for immediate shifting of administrative control of Haryana Chowkidara (Watchman) Rules, 2011 from the Home Department to the Development and Panchayats Department.
