Chandigarh, April 5: Haryana Cabinet which met under the Chairmanship of Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal here today accorded approval to a proposal regarding amendment in the Haryana Mines and Geology (Group-B) Service Rules, 1998.
The amendment in the Haryana Mines and Geology (Group-B), Service Rules, 1998 has been done to upgrade the qualification of posts of technical nature in order to meet the present-day requirements of the Department.
It is pertinent to mention here that the technology available for monitoring and regulation of mining activities has witnessed rapid improvements in the last decade. Keeping in view the advancement in the field of Geology, several Universities are offering specialized post-graduate degree courses in addition to M.Sc. (Geology).
Postgraduate degree courses such as M.Sc. (Applied Geology) and M.Tech. (Geology) or M.Tech. (Applied Geology) acquired after having Bachelor's degree in Geology can be of professional value for the Assistant Geologist involved in Geological Exploration and Mineral Survey.
The amendment will change the mode of recruitment for different posts in order to attract technically qualified persons and also to address certain anomalies existing in the Service Rules of Group-B.
Besides this, after the amendment the students having a degree of M.Sc. (Applied Geology) from Kurukshetra University will be treated at par with M.Sc (Geology) for such posts as the amended Service Rules will recognize these courses for recruitment in various cadres in Mines and Geology Department.
