Chandigarh, June 4 - Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal today inaugurated various development projects worth crores at Ambala Cantonment. These include the inauguration of an All-Weather Swimming Pool constructed at a cost of Rs 38.69 crore, SDO Civil Complex constructed at a cost of Rs 41.52 crore, and SC Boys Sports Hostel constructed at a cost of Rs 12.96 crore.

Sh. Manohar Lal while expressing gratitude to the Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi for giving Haryana an opportunity to host the Khelo India Youth Games-2021 said that the main sports competitions of the fourth edition of these games will be held in Panchkula. While competitions related to swimming, gymnastics will be held in Ambala Cantonment. Apart from this, some competitions will be held in Shahabad, Chandigarh and Delhi.

The Chief Minister said that earlier Ambala was known as Science City and Mixer Grinder Industry but after setting up of National and International Level sports stadium now Ambala has got a new identity in the field of sports.

North India's most modern swimming pool has been constructed in Ambala Cantonment so that youth can get an opportunity to move forward in the field of swimming, he added.

Sh. Manohar Lal said that a swimming academy would be set up in Ambala in which swimming-related competitions would be held throughout the year and swimmers from all over the country would come so that the local people would also be able to learn swimming here.

He said that concentration of mind, intellect and body is very important for swimming. Earlier in rural areas, youth used to swim in places like ponds, canals, etc. and since this sport has become international, special attention is being paid to ensure that our youth are proficient in this also, said Sh. Manohar Lal.

The Chief Minister said that along with education, a University has also been established in Haryana, in which 800 skills related various art forms have been listed. He said that a sports school located in Sonipat Rai would be upgraded as a Sports University. There will be research related to sports and work will be done on new schemes to promote sports. Today Haryana is progressing in every field like Agriculture, Science, Education, etc and the State’s youth are proving their mettle in every field, said Sh. Manohar Lal.

The Chief Minister raised the slogan ‘Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan, Jai Vigyan and Jai Pehalwan’ and extended his best wishes to all the players participating in the Khelo India Youth Games.

Sh. Manohar Lal said that just like Gurugram has emerged as the industrial hub of the south, he wishes to develop Ambala as the centre of industry in the North so as to woo more investors.

Giving the slogan of ‘Sabka Saath - Sabka Vikas’, the Chief Minister said that if the people of the State take one step forward, the government will walk with them by taking four steps.

The Chief Minister said that a Shaheedi Smarak to commemorate the sacrifices of the 1857 revolt heroes is being built in Ambala Cantonment and an amount of Rs.300 crore will be spent and it will be a centre of attraction for the country as well as the world.

Haryana Home and Health Minister, Sh. Anil Vij while welcoming Sh. Manohar Lal said that the development projects worth crores that have been inaugurated and dedicated today will provide better facilities to the people of the state and promote sports activities. People will get a chance to move forward in the area.

He said that the Ambala Cantonment area was deprived of development for years, under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi, the wheel of development is moving at a very fast pace, while under the leadership of Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal holistic and equitable development is being ensured in Haryana.

A few days ago, Cancer Care Hospital was inaugurated here and when he visited this hospital 20 days after the inauguration, he found that 1600 cancer patients have been registered here, in which patients from Lucknow and Himachal Pradesh have also come here for treatment.  This cancer hospital is equipped with the world's latest technology and health facilities said Sh. Anil Vij.

Referring to the all-weather swimming pool, he said that he is sure that this is the topmost swimming pool in entire North India.

Sh. Anil Vij said that the all-weather swimming pool includes Warm-up pool, VIP stage, fitness hall, judge room, athletic lounge room, canteen, boxing hall, and filtration plant room. During the Khelo India Youth Games-2021, swimming competitions would be held in this newly inaugurated  All Weather Swimming Pool, said the Home Minister.

Giving information about the S.C Boys Sports Hostel, he said that the hostel has the capacity of accommodating 160 players and arrangements would also be made for the accommodation of coaches. Besides this, the hostel also has facilities like wrestling, gym, physiotherapy office, doctor room, library, dining cum multipurpose hall, two lifts, etc. while on the ground floor, a provision for table tennis hall, audio-visual room, student room, coach room, etc has been made. However, on the first floor, student-coach room, etc. while on the second floor a provision of the hall, audio-visual room, and dormitory have been made.

Sh. Anil Vij said that today this Mini Secretariat has been inaugurated by the Chief Minister so that people can get information from different departments under one roof.

Speaking on the occasion, MP,  Sh. Rattan Lal Kataria said that under the able leadership of Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal, development works are going on in entire Haryana. Besides this, various development projects have been inaugurated by the Chief Minister today.

Additional Chief Secretary, Sports and Youth Affairs Department, Sh. Mahavir Singh, Deputy Commissioner, Ambala, Sh. Vikram Singh, Superintendent of Police, Sh. Jashandeep Singh Randhawa and dignitaries and officers of the Sports Department also remained present.
