Chandigarh, July 19-  Haryana Chief Minister Sh. Manohar Lal flagged off the first batch of new AC buses added to the bus fleet of Gurugram Metropolitan City Bus Limited (GMCBL), on Tuesday evening, which will be the first-ever AC buses to run in the city for public transport.

Speaking on the occasion, he said that this is a great initiative by GMCBL and a step forward to improving public transport infrastructure in the city. These buses will offer much respite and ease to the passengers during the summer months and will also encourage more citizens to choose public transport for their daily travel within the city. The Government is looking forward to a positive response of the citizens and providing improved public transport services to citizens at large.

The Chief Minister further said that eight AC buses are being added to the GMCBL fleet as reserve buses and as a supplement to regular buses when they are under maintenance or during any technical breakdown. These AC buses are 36-seater and equipped with regular features of all the GMCBL buses such as CCTV surveillance, Panic Button, indoor LED display, etc. The fare of these buses will be the same as the regular bus fare being charged by GMCBL.

“Currently GMCBL has a fleet of 150 buses plying in Gurugram and 50 buses plying in Faridabad. We will also work towards further expanding the fleet and adding more buses and routes to cover a larger segment of commuters in the city who rely on Gurugaman bus service to reach their destinations,” said Sh. Sudhir Rajpal, Chief Executive Officer, GMDA & Chairperson of GMCBL.
