Chandigarh, August 9 – Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal announced to upgrade the Regional Centre of Bhagat Phool Singh University running at village Lula Ahir in Kosli Assembly Constituency to a College.
The Chief Minister was replying to a question asked by MLA, Sh. Laxman Yadav regarding the upgrading of the Regional Centre of Bhagat Phool Singh University running at village Lula Ahir to a University during the Question Hour on the second day of the Monsoon session of the Haryana Legislative Assembly here today.
The Chief Minister said that at present there are more than 50 Government and Private Universities running in the state. Increasing the number of Universities certainly impacts the education system. Therefore, the opening of Universities in every single place is of no use, he added.
He said that the main work of the University is to conduct examinations, and affiliation with colleges.
The Chief Minister said that in past, Universities were located at long distances and because of this regional centres were opened. But today the travelling distance of a University in the State is not far, hence the regional centre of Bhagat Phool Singh University in the village of Lula Ahir cannot be developed as a University.
