Chandigarh, September 23 – While celebrating Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav with great patriotic zeal and enthusiasm, Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal and his Cabinet will see a special screening of Swaraj: Bharat Ke Swatantrata Sangram Ki Samagra Gatha on September 27 at Indradhanush Auditorium, Panchkula.

The 75-episode mega show prepared by Doordarshan will illustrate the glorious history of India’s freedom struggle from the 15th century onwards when Vasco-Da-Gama landed in India in 1498. This serial will showcase several aspects of Indian history featuring the lives and sacrifices of lesser-known heroes of the freedom struggle.

Meanwhile, as directed by Chief Minister Haryana, State Government is already giving special attention to celebrating and commemorating 75 years of independence, so that the young generation can be made aware of how badly the Indians had suffered during the British Raj.

The State has also organized several celebratory series that not only gave a glimpse of the freedom movement but also highlighted the immortal saga of the supreme sacrifices made by the freedom fighters.

Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi had started the official journey of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav from Sabarmati Ashram in Ahmedabad that will end post a year on August 15, 2023.

Numerous patriotic programmes are being organized all over the country under Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, while Haryana too has planned year-long programmes to commemorate the same.

Many incidents in the past highlight the significant contribution of the Haryanvis in safeguarding the honour and the pride of Mother India. The sacrifices made by the brave soldiers of Rohnaat village during the freedom movement is of paramount.

The Chief Minister himself witnessed the play 'Dastan-e-Rohnaat' highlighting the glorious history of Rohnaat village in the Bhiwani district, which has suffered the cruelty of British rule.

The special feature of this play was that about 500 residents of Rohnaat and its surrounding villages were specially invited to Hisar to see the play. After this, the Chief Minister also saw a film made on Vibhajan Vibhishika in Panchkula.

The State Government has made the goal of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav meaningful by organizing unique programmes like dramas related to the sacrifices of martyrs of Haryana and several films and plays related to Vibhajan Vibhishika were also screened across the State.

The ‘Swaraj’ being presented in a docu-drama, is envisioned as the iconic serial of Doordarshan which will turn into a national movement inspiring the public, especially the youth about India's rich history and filling every Indian's heart with pride.

The unique thing about this series is that this not only includes the stories of well-known heroes like Mangal Pandey, Rani Laxmibai and Bhagat Singh, but unknown, unheard and forgotten heroes and heroines like Rani Abakka, Bakshi Jagabandhu, Tirot Singh, Sidho Kanho Murmu, Shivappa Nayak Kanhoji Angre, Rani Gaidinliu and Tilka Manjhi are also included, whose sacrifices went unheard-told.

Through this series, the audience will not only get to know the inspiring biography of the heroes but they will also get a glimpse of the unjust behaviour of the colonial forces towards us. In the true sense, screening of this series will make Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations more meaningful.
