Chandigarh, October 19- Haryana Cabinet which met under the Chairmanship of Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal here today accorded Ex-Post facto approval to a proposal regarding of Mr. Justice L.N. Mittal (Retired) of Punjab and Haryana High Court, as Commission of Inquiry to inquire into the circumstances leading to the assault and unfortunate death of Sh. Surender Singh, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Taoru, District Nuh, while conducting the raid on illegal mining activities. It was also decided to extend the term of Commission upto October 31, 2022. By this time the enquiry is supposed to be completed.

For the purpose of conducting an enquiry into the definite matter of public importance in the exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 3 of the Commissions of Inquiry Act 1952 (Central Act 60 of 1952), Mr. Justice L.N. Mittal (Retired) of Punjab and Haryana High Court as Commission of inquiry was constituted on August 18, 2022, to look into the circumstances leading to assault and unfortunate death of Sh. Surender Singh, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Taoru, District Nuh while conducting the raid on illegal mining activities.

The Commission will also suggest deterrent measures to prevent the reoccurrence of such incidents and to curb illegal mining in that area in the future.
