Chandigarh, January 25: Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal made several important announcements during a programme organized on the birth anniversary of Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram at Jat Dharamshala in Kurukshetra, today. The Chief Minister announced a hike in the rate of sugarcane by Rs 10, making the amount to Rs 372.  Not only this, he also announced to increase the salary of Patwaris from Rs 25,000 to Rs 32,100.

The Chief Minister also announced girdawari of the mustard crop damaged due to frost, along with compensation to be given to the farmers. He also announced Rs 51 lakh for Jat Dharamshala, adding that land for the hostel to be built by Jat Dharamshala would be arranged through Kurukshetra Development Board or Haryana Shehri Vikas Pradhikaran.

Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal called upon the common people to follow the ideals of Dhanna Bhagat, whose birth anniversary is celebrated every year on April 21. “The state government is running the Sant Mahapurush Samman evam Vichar Prachar Prasar Yojana, under which birth anniversaries of saints and great men are officially celebrated. This time the birth anniversary of Sh. Dhanna Bhagat will also be celebrated by the state government. The place for the programme will soon be finalised,” he said.

He further said that there is a problem of water logging in 1.5 lakh acres of land in the state for which a budget of Rs 1100 crore will be spent till next year; to make it arable. “We have to work on the ideals of Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram. He fought with the British and made laws for the poor and farmers. It was him who got implemented one day's holiday in a week in markets, shops and factories. It was Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram who helped the debt-ridden farmers to overcome the problem,” said Sh. Manohar Lal.

State government stopped ‘parchi-kharchi’ system

The Chief Minister appealed to the society to motivate children to study. “Today is the era of competition and in such a situation, we should motivate the children to score good marks. The government has stopped the system of ‘parchi-kharchi’. Now, on the basis of competition, only the eligible youths who are toppers are getting jobs,” he added.

He said that earlier the benefits of the government schemes were availed only by a limited set of people; but now the state government has extended the benefits of the schemes to the eligible families. “We have to emphasize on education, employment and health of the poor and needy. Keeping this in mind, CHIRAYU Haryana Yojana has been started; under which 29 lakh families of income group up to Rs 1.80 lakh have been given free treatment facility up to Rs 5 lakh,” he asserted.

The state government is giving Rs 700, Rs 900 and Rs 1,100 to Antyodaya families who want to send their children to private schools. The Chief Minister also announced the benefit of this scheme to the families having income up to Rs 1.80 lakh in the school run by Jat Dharamshala.

Society should play vital role in eradicating drug menace

The Chief Minister said that the society should play a vital role in eradicating drug menace by making common people aware about it. “The government can take action against drug menace, but the society should take the responsibility of convincing and making people aware. Also, the state government is taking stringent steps and action against corruption and the society should also play its role in it, he said.

On the occasion, former Union Minister, Chaudhary Birender Singh expressed gratitude to Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal. Kurukshetra MP, Sh. Nayab Singh Saini, Thanesar MLA, Sh Subhash Sudha, Jat Dharamshala president, Puran Bhagat, former president Surender Singh and other dignitaries were present during the programme.
