Chandigarh, March 8: Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal said that the historic Gurdwaras in Haryana would be managed by the Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee and the state government will extend all possible cooperation by providing them required assistance. “The government is doing social and service work. Under this, if the Haryana Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee needs any cooperation from the government, including construction of educational institutions and hospitals; then it will also be fulfilled,” he added.
The Chief Minister paid obeisance at Sri Thada Sahib Gurdwara, Jorian and was addressing during the Hola Mohalla Samagam organized at the Gurdwara today. He also extended greetings on the occasion of International Women's Day and said that the state government has launched various schemes for the upliftment of women.
About the Hola Mohalla Samagam, the Chief Minister said that this festival was started by Sri Guru Gobind Singh ji, in the year 1680 at Sri Anandpur Sahib. “Hola Mohalla is a festival of bravery and strength. It was started by Sri Guru Gobind Singh ji to inculcate and strengthen valour and bravery in the Sikhs and channel it to fight against the atrocities. We can never forget the sacrifice of our Gurus,” he said.
The Chief Minister said that Sri Guru Gobind Singh ji entrusted the responsibility to Baba Banda Singh Bahadur to counter the atrocities committed on the people by the Mughals in North India. They fought valiantly and built their first capital at Lohgarh in this region. He said that Sant Nischal Singh served the needy in Yamunanagar and in 1952 raised the voice of promoting women's education and established a Women's Education Institute here. “We should follow the footsteps of such a great saint,” he added.
Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, president, Baba Karmjit Singh extended greetings and felicitated the Chief Minister with siropa (robe of honour). Education Minister, Sh. Kanwar Pal, MLA Ghanshyam Dass Arora, Mayor Madan Chauhan, BJP district president Rajesh Sapra, BJP leader Rameshwar Chauhan and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
