Chandigarh, March 22: On the occasion of World Water Day, Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal today released Haryana’s Dynamic Ground Water Resources Estimation Report, jointly prepared by Central Ground Water Board, North West Zone Chandigarh, and Ground Water Cell, Irrigation and Water Resources Department, Haryana.

On the occasion, the Chief Minister extended greetings and good wishes to the people of the state on the occasion of Hindu New Year Vikram Samvat 2080 and Chaitra Navratras. He wished that the new year brings happiness and prosperity for the people and peace and brotherhood prevails in the state.

Giving a message to the people of the state on the occasion of World Water Day, the Chief Minister called for the importance of water conservation and adopting proper arrangements for its use. Congratulating the Irrigation and Water Resources Department and other stakeholders engaged in water conservation, he said, “Water conservation is the need of the hour and emphasis on proper use of water at every level has to be made now itself; only then we will be able to save water for future generations.”

The Chief Minister was apprised that 141 blocks and two urban areas of Gurugram and Faridabad with a population of more than 10 lakh have been assessed in the report. According to the Ground Water Resources Assessment, 2022, the level of ground water development has improved due to the efforts of the Haryana government.

During the year 2020, the average ground water exploitation level in the state was 134.56 percent, which has come down to 134.14 percent during 2022. The report has been prepared with the help of In-GRES software developed by the Central Ground Water Board.

Chief Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, Sh. DS Dhesi, Additional Chief Secretary, Home and Jail Department, Sh. TVSN Prasad, Chairperson, Haryana Water Resources Authority, Smt. Keshni Anand Arora, Advisor to the Chief Minister (Irrigation), Sh. Devender Singh, Commissioner and Secretary, Irrigation and Water Resources Department, Sh. Pankaj Agarwal and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
