Chandigarh, March 23 - On the occasion of Martyrdom Day (Shaheed Diwas) of Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev, Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal today visited National War Memorial in Delhi and paid floral tributes to the brave soldiers who laid down their lives for safeguarding the integrity of Mother India.
Later interacting with media Chief Minister said that today on Martyrdom Day (Shaheed Diwas) he feels proud as he got a chance to visit the National War Memorial.
"We should be proud of our brave soldiers as only because of their supreme sacrifices we got freedom", said Sh. Manohar Lal.
He said that in the year 2019, under the guidance of Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi, this National War Memorial was constructed. In this memorial, the martyrdom of about 26,500 soldiers of the three armed forces including Army, Navy and Air Force has been beautifully portrayed, added Sh. Manohar Lal.
The Chief Minister said that out of these 26,500 soldiers, more than 2500 soldiers belong to Haryana, this is another inspiring thing. Also, the representation of youth of the state in the armed forces is 10 percent which certainly proves the state's strength, said Sh. Manohar Lal.
The Chief Minister also paid tribute and saluted the families and the mothers of these great martyrs.
Appealing to the people of the state and the country, Sh. Manohar Lal said that the citizens must visit this war memorial and take inspiration from the martyrdom of the martyrs and contribute in nation building.
Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Statistics and Program Implementation, Rao Inderjit Singh, Union Minister of State for Power and Heavy Industries, Sh. Krishan Pal, Transport Minister, Sh. Mool Chand Sharma, Members of Parliament, Sh. Ramesh Kaushik, Sh. Nayab Singh, Sh. Rattan Lal Kataria, Smt. Sunita Duggal and other dignitaries also remained present on this occasion.
