Chandigarh, May 28: Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal said that today the country has got a gift in the form of a new Parliament building. Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi today inaugurated the new Parliament building with traditional prayers and Vedic rituals and also honoured the workers who built it; giving importance to their contribution.
The Chief Minister said that following the guidance of the Prime Minister, the Haryana government is also giving full respect to the workers. He said that the workers have an important contribution in every construction and today the country is becoming self-sufficient only on the strength of the workers.
Moving further in this direction, the Chief Minister today announced to increase the amount of scholarship given to the children of the workers by the Haryana Labour Welfare Board. The amount of Rs 7,000 for classes 9th and 10th, Rs 7,750 for classes 11th and 12th, and Rs 8,500 for higher education has been increased to Rs 10,000 in all the three categories, he added.
The Chief Minister was interacting with the workers and their children registered under Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board (BOCW), Haryana, through audio conferencing from New Delhi today.
Workers express gratitude to Chief Minister for supporting children in fulfilling their dreams
During the interaction, the workers expressed their gratitude to the Chief Minister for providing them benefits from various schemes of the state government; besides providing education to their children under other related schemes. They thanked the Chief Minister for supporting the children in fulfilling their dreams.
Chief Minister accords approval for opening library in Rewari’s Nimoth village
Meanwhile, Bhavna, a resident of Rewari’s Nimoth village expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister for the financial assistance being provided for her education and appealed to build a library in the village. On her demand, the Chief Minister immediately approved the construction of a library for Nimoth village.
Similarly, Akash's father from Palwal district also requested to build a library, on which the Chief Minister accorded approval. The library would be opened in the Arya Samaj temple in Palwal’s Aurangabad village.
Haryana government committed to the welfare, upliftment and prosperity of workers
Sh. Manohar Lal said that the workers play an important role in the economic development of any country. He said that land, capital, entrepreneurship and workers are the four pillars on which the economy of every country is built. “Of these, the fourth pillar, the worker, is the most important. In our culture, there has always been a sense of respect towards the workers; that is why they have been given the name of great craftsman Vishwakarma,” he added.“Haryana is scaling new heights in the matters of development and its credit goes to the hardworking workers of the state. It is only on their strength that Haryana has become the fastest progressing state in the country. The state government is committed for the welfare, upliftment and prosperity of the workers,” said the Chief Minister.
Haryana ranks first in registering workers in unorganised sectors under PM Shram Yogi Maandhan Yojana
The Chief Minister said that the focus of the state government is not only on the organised sector but also on the unorganised sector. He said that today in Haryana, about 25 percent of the workers are employed in the organised sector and 75 percent in the unorganised sector. “Haryana ranks first in the country in registering workers in unorganised sectors under Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maandhan Yojana. So far, over 8.19 lakh beneficiaries have been registered under this scheme,” he added.
State government giving scholarships, financial assistance for education to children of workers
Sh. Manohar Lal said that the state government is giving various types of scholarships and financial assistance to the children of workers for their education. Financial assistance up to Rs 20,000 per annum is being given for the education of the children of workers from class 1st to post graduation. The government also bears the expenditure of up to Rs 1.20 lakh per annum for the hostel facility of the children; studying in technical and professional institutions.
Incentive amount to meritorious children in board classes
The Chief Minister said that the meritorious children of the workers registered with the Haryana Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board are being given incentives ranging from Rs 21,000 to Rs 51,000 on the basis of academic excellence in board examinations of classes 10th and 12th. Apart from this, the Haryana Labour Welfare Board provides financial assistance of up to Rs 20,000 for coaching for entrance examinations in professional courses and Rs 1 lakh for the preparation of the main examination of UPSC and HPSC.
He said that on the lines of Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana, Haryana Skill Development Mission has been set up in the state. The objective of this mission is to make youth skilled by training them in traditional as well as modern businesses; so that they can get new employment opportunities.
Increase in the amount of assistance given to children with disability
Sh. Manohar Lal said that the government has increased the monthly assistance given to the children with disability of registered workers from Rs 2,500 to Rs 3,000. Apart from this, the families of registered workers are given Kanyadan of Rs 51,000 in every marriage till the marriage of three daughters and Rs 50,000 for arrangements of the marriage under Kanyadan Yojana. Similarly, a shagun amount of Rs 21,000 is given on the marriage of the worker or his son.
Accident insurance cover for safety of workers
The Chief Minister said that while the government has strengthened the safety of the workers at the workplace, they are also provided accident insurance and financial assistance for social concerns. The Labour Welfare Board provides immediate financial assistance of up to Rs 1.50 lakh in case of an accident at the workplace.
He said that in case of death of a registered worker under the Mukhyamantri Samajik Suraksha Yojana in an accident during work, a financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh is given to the family of the worker by the Haryana Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board.
Financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh for rehabilitation of workers affected silicosis
The Chief Minister said that since 2017, special schemes have been implemented for the workers working in construction and industries whose lungs are affected by the severe disease of silicosis. Under this, a provision of financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh has been made for the rehabilitation of the affected workers. In case, a worker succumbs to this disease, then the family is given financial assistance of up to Rs 1 lakh under this scheme. So far, an amount of Rs 30.09 crore has been provided.
Apart from this, comprehensive health services are being provided by the Haryana Employees State Insurance Healthcare to 24 lakh insured workers and their dependents with a monthly salary of less than Rs 21,000. He said that the benefits of the welfare schemes being implemented for the registered workers employed in building construction and industries are being given through DBT. The workers have to register through Antyodaya Saral Kendras, Antyodaya Bhawan and CSC Centers of the state to avail the benefits of these schemes.
Skill training to workers to provide employment opportunities abroad
The Chief Minister said that the state government was providing skill training to the workers to work on modern machines. Also, the Foreign Cooperation Department has received demand for skilled workers from abroad. “As a result, now the government is making efforts to send the workers of the state to foreign countries by making them skilled,” he asserted.
He said that under the Shram Puraskar Yojana, workers are given prizes ranging from Rs 51,000 to Rs 2 lakh. Under this, so far 132 beneficiaries have been given prizes worth Rs 37.38 lakh. Apart from this, under the Antyodaya Aahar Yojana, high quality food is being provided to workers in ten districts for Rs 10. The anomalies in the system of re-fixation of minimum wages have been removed.
