Chandigarh, May 30: Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal said that an important meeting would be held with Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister on June 5; comprising of various issues including construction of Kishau dam, construction of new parallel linked channel from Dadupur to Hamida Head, Saraswati River Rejuvenation and Heritage Development Project, SYL canal water via Himachal Pradesh and imposition of cess on electricity.
This information was given in a high-level meeting chaired by the Chief Minister with administrative secretaries to review projects worth more than Rs 100 crore. The Chief Minister directed the officers to formulate various schemes on a large scale to drain out water from the waterlogged areas to the low-water areas of the state; so that the farmers can get its benefit.
Sh. Manohar Lal said that work is being done on various schemes for drinking water and irrigation. “It is the priority of the state government to provide clean drinking water in sufficient quantities to the citizens across the state uninterruptedly. Also, water will be available for irrigation to the farmers after these projects are completed,” he added.
During the meeting, the officers of the concerned departments apprised the Chief Minister that work is also being done for remodeling of Gurugram Water Service channel and construction of Mewat Feeder Canal project, besides increasing capacity of JLN canal and enhancing capacity of Hansi branch’s carrier system. “These irrigation and water projects will provide relief in areas with groundwater crises and water for irrigation will be available to industries and farmers,” said Sh. Manohar Lal.
It was also apprised that work related to remodeling of augmentation canal in Yamunanagar, concrete linking and remodeling from Munak head (Karnal) to Khubru Head (Sonipat), increasing the capacity of STP channel in Dhanwapur and Behrampur (Gurugram), construction of water conveyance system and allied structures for supply of water to Gorakhpur, Fatehabad, RCC retaining wall in Jua drain, Jhajjar among other projects are being expedited.
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister said that the state government is endeavouring to strengthen the metro rail and road network at Gurugram and Faridabad. For this, GMDA will commence the civil work on the 28 kilometres metro rail network in Gurugram within a month. Also, metro rail connectivity from Rezang La Chowk to Sector 21 Dwarka and regional rapid transit system from Sarai Kale Khan to Panipat is being formulated.
The officers apprised the Chief Minister that 100 MLD water treatment plant is also being built in Dhanwapur, besides 100 MLD water treatment plant at Chandu Budhera; construction work of which will start in June. Also, 80 percent work of STPs to be built in Faridabad’s Pratapgarh and Mirzapur have been completed. In addition, South Peripheral Road will be constructed from Faridabad Road to NH-48 Gurugram at a cost of Rs 845.54 crore.
Apart from this, the construction work of Shree Sheetla Mata Devi Medical College and Hospital in Gurugram will be completed in the next three months. It was informed in the meeting that OPD services at Jind Medical College would start in the initial phase of the project. Besides, the process of purchasing equipment for Bhiwani Medical College is also underway.
Also, a 113 kilometres long pipeline is being laid from Sector 58 to 115 at a cost of Rs 226.31 crore in Gurugram; which will provide better drinking water facilities to the citizens.
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister directed the officers to expedite the work related to the first international-level convention centre of the state, being built in Faridabad’s Sector 78. The centre will have a 200-room hotel, along with an exhibition and auditorium block. He said that FMDA and GMDA should work jointly in coordination and ensure all-round development of Faridabad on the lines of Gurugram.
While reviewing the NH 21A four-lane Pinjore bypass, the Chief Minister said that talks should be held with the officials of the Railways department for speedy completion of the project. The officers apprised that the work related to construction of link road from Rewari-Narnaul to Rewari-Jhajjar via Rewari-Dadri road; including three railway over bridges (ROBs) has almost been completed. Also, construction of road from Faridabad-Greater Noida including bridge over Yamuna River has also been completed.
The Chief Minister directed the officers to expedite the works related to various projects and also ensure continuous monitoring. He said that a central team should be constituted for monitoring the ongoing major projects of the Public Health Engineering and Public Works departments in the state. During the meeting, 48 development projects of the Town and Country Planning department, Public Works (B&R) and Architecture department and Irrigation and Water Resources department, worth about Rs 37,927 crore were reviewed.
