Chandigarh, October 16 - Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal said that state government is extending healthcare services to every home by establishing medical colleges in each district. In addition, the government is initiating the setup of gymnasiums and wellness centers in every village, promoting preventive healthcare in villages and reducing the need for hospital visits. These wellness centers will now have dieticians providing advice to residents on maintaining their health.
The Chief Minister made these remarks while addressing the people after laying the foundation stone of Bhagwan Parshuram Government Medical College in Sampan Khedi village, in Kaithal district today.
The Bhagwan Parshuram Government Medical College, which is to be constructed in the village of Sampan Khedi at an estimated cost of Rs 950 crore on a 20-acre land, will have 100 MBBS seats and a 500-bed hospital. A target has been set to complete the construction work of this project in the next 30 months.
During this, Chief Minister also laid foundation stones of various developmental projects including road to be built from Sujma Road Bata to Chausala at a cost of Rs 167.40 lakh, village Majra to Rajound Pundri road at a cost of Rs 175.98 lakh, market shed to be built in Kaithal Patti Chaudhary at a cost of Rs 406.71 lakh and project of 6 bays Bus Stand to be built at Patiala Road Cheeka at a cost of Rs 915.23 lakh.
During this event, members of the Brahmin community from across the state warmly welcomed the Chief Minister for naming the medical college and hospital after Bhagwan Parshuram. Chief Minister expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Panchayat and the people of Sampan Khedi village for providing 20 acres of land for the establishment of the college and hospital.
While extending his congratulations and best wishes to the people of the state during Navratri, Chief Minister said that the state government has bestowed two significant gifts - the Domestic Airport in Ambala Cantonment on the first Navratri and the Bhagwan Parshuram Government Medical College and Hospital on the second Navratri. He said that not only Haryana but also the neighboring states will also be benefited. It's worth noting that the construction of this college was initially announced during the Brahmin Mahakumbh held on December 11, 2022 in Karnal.
He stated that preceding regimes had established six medical colleges before 2014, providing a total of 700 MBBS seats. But now in the year 2023, there are 15 medical colleges in the state and 2185 MBBS seats. Looking ahead, plans are underway to establish eight additional medical colleges, including in Fatehabad, Sirsa, Charkhi Dadri and Palwal. Over the next three to four years, the number of MBBS seats is expected to reach 3,500, he added.
In addition to these healthcare initiatives, the state government is also actively setting up Nursing Colleges and Paramedical Colleges. The Chief Minister said that the government's commitment extends beyond infrastructure development. The government is dedicated to promoting public health awareness, with the construction of gyms and wellness centers in every village. These wellness centers will not only offer Ayurvedic services but also have dieticians who will educate the public about healthy lifestyles and dietary choices.
Furthermore, it's worth noting that Haryana has made substantial strides in the sports, with Haryana's players recently securing 40 percent of the medals in the Asian Games.
Free travel for candidates appearing in Group D exam
While interacting with media persons, the Chief Minister said that the Group D examination is scheduled to take place on October 21 and 22, 2023. To facilitate candidates appearing in this examination, the state government has taken the commendable step of providing free transportation via roadways buses. To avail of this benefit, candidates will need to present their admit cards.
The Chief Minister said that in the past, farmers were allocated a quota of 30 quintals of paddy per acre, with an additional 10 percent. However, this quota has now been augmented to 35 quintals plus an extra 10 percent per acre. The government is committed to ensuring that every grain of paddy is purchased from the farmers, and no farmer will encounter any issues in this process. In addition, if deemed necessary, the quota allocated to mills can also be increased to meet demand.
During the event, MLA Sh Leela Ram conveyed his appreciation to the Chief Minister for giving Bhagwan Parshuram Government Medical College and Hospital, costing at Rs 950 crore, and four additional projects worth Rs 17 crore to Kaithal. He said that the Chief Minister's actions and words were aligned, showcasing the commitment to the region's development.
On this occasion, Haryana Minister of State for Women and Child Development Kamlesh Dhanda, MP Nayab Singh Saini, Rajya Sabha MP Kartinkey Sharma, ACS Medical Education and Reseach Sumita Misra, Chairman Hafed Kailash Bhagat and a large number of villagers were also present.
