Chandigarh, Nov 24 - Haryana Chief Minister Sh. Manohar Lal, while underscoring the importance of leveraging alumni networks and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds to propel infrastructure development, said that each universities should establish dedicated alumni cell as well as CSR cell for this purpose.
The Chief Minister articulated this vision while presiding over a meeting of the Higher Education Department here today, where Higher Education Minister Sh. Moolchand Sharma was also present.
Recognizing the immense potential embedded in the alumni community, the Chief Minister urged the Vice Chancellors to activate and utilize their alumni networks effectively. By strategically tapping into these funds, universities can augment their resources and contribute significantly to the enhancement of infrastructure facilities. This would witness substantial growth in university infrastructure, fostering an environment conducive to academic excellence.
Responding to a request for the purchase of a bus for Maharishi Valmiki Sanskrit University in Kaithal, Haryana Chief Minister Sh. Manohar Lal has announced to give a discretionary grant of Rs 25 lakh. This will significantly boost the university's infrastructure and will enhance transportation facilities for students and staff members. To facilitate the direct access of Mundri village's University campus to the Kaithal-Karnal Highway, the Chief Minister has instructed the Additional Chief Secretary of Higher Education, Sh. Anand Mohan Sharan to take up the matter with the relevant department to expedite the process.
Medal winners to fill vacant sports positions in Universities
The Chief Minister said that vacant sports-related posts in universities will be filled from among promising medal-winning players. Out sportspersons are constantly brought laurels at various national and international events and are being recruited by sports department as per policy. Accordingly, these accomplished players will be given appointment on a deputation basis to available positions, commensurate with their outstanding achievements.
The Chief Minister also conducted a comprehensive review of the various issues pertaining to universities and directed the officers to expedite their resolution.

Tomar, VC Bhagat Phool Singh Mahila Vishwavidhyalaya Prof. Sudesh, VC Gurugram University Gurugram Prof. Dinesh Kumar, VC Maharishi Valmiki Sanskrit University, Kaithal Prof. Ramesh Chander Bhardwaj and other officers were also present in the meeting.
