  • Chandigarh, June 24—Stressing the direct link between  connectivity and development, and the need to build convenient, comfortable and affordable urban transport systems in cities, the Prime Minister, Mr Narender Modi, today inaugurated Delhi Metro’s Mundka-Bahadurgarh section, and said Metro had arrived here as the ‘gateway’ of development.
  • Addressing the people after symbolically flagging off the Rs 2,028-crore 11-km Metro track through video-conferencing at Bahadurgarh, the Prime Minister said besides making travel easy and hassle-free for the commuters and passengers, it would pace up development of Bahadurgarh, the gateway to Haryana, and the nearby areas.
  • After Gurugram and Faridabad, Bahadurgarh has become the third city in Haryana to be connected with Metro. The Metro will bring development to Bahadurgarh and the surrounding areas. “We have seen how Metro in Delhi has brought about positive impact on the lives of citizens. I have also several times travelled in Metro,” Mr Modi said.
  • Businessmen, students and a large number of people from various sections of society will benefit from this Metro connectivity. With this connectivity, the length of metro network in Haryana has increased to 26 kilometers.
  • Mr Modi disclosed that process had been initiated to connect Delhi with Ghaziabad- Meerut besides connecting Delhi with Sonepat and Panipat under the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS), a semi-high speed rail corridor.
  • “Our government’s priority is to build convenient, comfortable and affordable urban transport systems in cities. We brought out first metro policy in 2017 catering to all issues related to metros. Earlier, there was no such policy. The transport system is being integrated to provide better transport facilities to the general masses”, he said.
  • In Delhi NCR, the Metro has taken place of about 6 lakh cars. The 11.2 kilometer-long fully elevated Mundka-Bahadurgarh corridor is part of Delhi Metro’s Green Line. The Mundka-Bahadurgarh stretch, with seven stations, would be an extension of the existing Green Line (standard gauge tracks) from Inderlok to Mundka.
  • In Haryana, the stations will be Modern Industrial Estate, Bus Stand and City Park while in Delhi, these will be Mundka Industrial area, Ghevra, Tikri Kalan and Tikri Border.
  • As many as 12 cities are being connected through Metro in the country. After Shanghai, Beijing, London and New York, Delhi Metro has become the 5th largest metro network in the world. The metro has also become a means to establish better relations with other countries, Mr Modi said.
  • The Prime Minister disclosed that two modern metro coach manufacturing plants were being set up at Vadodara in Gujarat and Chennai in Tamil Nadu. After these are set up, India will be able to export metro coaches to other countries.
  •     Describing the process of making Metro system as a symbol of cooperative federalism, he said wherever the metros were being built in India, the Centre and the respective state governments worked together.
  • Stating that New India required new and smart infrastructure, the Prime Minister said the Union Government was working on roads, railways, highways, airways and i-ways. There is focus on connectivity and on ensuring that development projects are completed on time, he added.
  • Earlier, thanking the Prime Minister for inaugurating the Mundka- Bahadurgarh Metro line, the Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal, said the Central Government had given many projects to Haryana which showed special affection the PM had for the state.
  • Mr Manohar Lal said cost of Rs 2,028 crore had been incurred on this 11-km track. The foundation was laid on February 2, 2013. It will not only benefit about 1.5 lakh passengers, who travel daily to Delhi and come back, but other passengers as well. They all would now experience the ‘ease of living’ as they would face less traffic congestion on roads, he added.
  • Chandigarh, June 24--The Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal, disclosed today that the Union Government had approved two projects for Haryana under the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS). These are connecting Delhi with Alwar via Gurugram and Manesar besides connecting Delhi with Panipat via Sonipat.
  • Interacting with media persons at Modern Industrial Estate Metro station in Bahadurgarh after inauguration of the Mundka-Bahadurgarh Metro line by Prime Minister, Mr Narender Modi, he said the Haryana Government had sent proposals to the Union Government for connecting Delhi with Palwal-Hodal under RRTS, besides laying metro lines from HUDA City Centre Gurugram to Manesar.
  • These also include providing connectivity to Railway Station in Old Gurugram, from Bahadurgarh to Sampla, from Mujessar to Ballabhgarh (3.5 Km stretch), Dwarka (Delhi) to Badsa (Jhajjar) where an outreach OPD of AIIMS is running and a heart care as well as an national cancer hospital is also coming up.
  • He said the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal Expressway was nearing completion and the Prime Minister, Mr Narender Modi, would be requested to inaugurate it. A part of this E-way, from Palwal to Manesar, has already been made operational.
  • The Union Government has sanctioned 11 National Highways in Haryana, having a length of 907 kilometers, which will further expedite the pace of development in the state.
  • The Chief Minister said he had received a number of proposals for naming the three Metro stations, falling in the territory of Haryana on Mundka-Bahadurgarh Metro line, which was inaugurated today by the Prime Minister. All these will be sent to the office of the Union Minister, Mr Hardeep Singh Puri. The committee of Delhi Metro constituted for the purpose, would take a final decision.
  • Asked about the claims of Congress that the present government was inaugurating the projects initiated during the Congress regime, the Chief Minister said governance was a continuous ongoing process and the works left incomplete by the earlier government were completed by the succeeding government.
  • Did the Congress Government not complete the works left incomplete by the earlier INLD Government? Did Mr Manmohan Singh not resume work on the incomplete projects? There are hundreds of places on Delhi-Amritsar National Highway where work was stalled during the previous regime but the present BJP Government took up these works. At the same time, he said, “We have also corrected their (read Congress) misdeeds and provided relief to the people”. 
  • Answering another question, the Chief Minister said all the 22 lakh students, studying in Classes 6th to 12th in private and government schools, will plant a sapling each during the next three months. This way, 22 lakh saplings will be planted, which will improve greenery in the state. The government will provide incentive of Rs 50 to each student.  
  • The Union Minister, Mr Hardeep Singh Puri, who was also present, said work on all the proposals sent by the Haryana Government would be expedited and approval would be sent as soon as possible.
  • The Agriculture and Farmer Welfare Minister, Mr Om Prakash Dhankhar, Bahadurgarh MLA, Mr Naresh Kaushik, were among those present on the occasion.
  • Chandigarh, June 24—The Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal, has said the state government has decided to constitute Yog Aayog. With this, Haryana will become the second state after Chhattisgarh in the country to constitute such Aayog for the promotion of yoga.
  • Speaking at the Rahgiri programme in Fatehabad where he reached on bicycle today, the Chief Minister urged the people to celebrate Sunday as Fun Day. The state government has initiated Rahgiri programmes to make people’s life stress-free, he added.
  • Apart from carrying out development works, the state government also has social responsibility. It is the duty of government to give the society a new direction.
  • The Rahgiri programme was participated by thousands of youth and others. The programme included various sports activities and cultural programmes related to Haryana, Punjab and Rajasthan. The Chief Minister also participated in various sports activities and encouraged the youth to do so. He also went around an exhibition on the achievements of different departments.
  • Development has no limit. Over and above infrastructural development, it is important to bring about change in an individual’s life by giving him happiness which also forms part of development, he said.
  • Health problems are increasing as we are aging. People have stopped taking care of their body. Resultantly many are suffering from obesity, heart disease, diabetes and others. In India, 16 crore people are suffering from obesity.
  • He said in order to improve the health of people, the Central Government had implemented Ayushman Bharat Scheme under which, ten crore families are being given health insurance up to Rs 5 lakh. Above all, it is important not to fall sick. The state government has worked on a scheme to make people’s life stress-free.
  • The Chief Minister said various activities were being organised for two days in a month, where youth and people of the state can exhibit their talents. Such programme freshens up each individual and inspires him to work with more enthusiasm.
  • He said Ministry of Happiness had been formed in Bhutan. In the Happiness Index, Haryana is on 133rd place and we have to bring it on tenth place.
  • The Chief Minister also flagged off 13 new vehicles bought at the cost of about Rs 60 lakh in Fatehabad, for making the sanitation campaign a success. These vehicles will collect garbage from door-to-door in all streets. There are total 25 wards in the city, one vehicle had been allotted for two wards for garbage collection.
  • State BJP President, Mr Subhash Barala, and Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, Mr Krishan Kumar Bedi, were also present on this occasion.
  • Chandigarh, June 24–The Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal said that the process of adding more posts of HCS Allied is in the process and soon, after completion of the process, recruitment would be started. Similarly, recruitment to Group-D posts would also be started. The tradition of giving employment through contractor would be brought to an end.
  • Speaking at the Jan Samwad Sammelan, organised at Tohana in district Fatehabad last evening, he said the state government would set up its own power plant near coal mines to ensure uninterrupted power supply.
  • He announced that 24-hour power supply would be provided to Fatehabad district from July 1. Soon, 24-hour power supply would be ensured in all districts of the state.
  • The previous government had made false promises but today people have electricity meters. When in power, they promised meters but now when out of power, these are saying they will throw them out. People can size up the reality, he added.
  • The Chief Minister said before the ensuing Kharif season,  Minimum Support Price would be fixed as per report of the Swaminathan Commission by adding 50 per cent profit to  farmers’ expenditure. The state government has been implementing recommendations of the commission and even Dr. Swaminathan had acknowledged this fact.
  • In this direction, scheme like Fasal Bima Yojana have been implemented. In Haryana, so far farmers have paid premium of Rs 209 crore under this scheme whereas they have received claim of Rs 400 crore.
  • Recently, the farmers in Fatehabad had received claims of Rs 72 crore at the rate of 32,000 per farmer whereas during the tenure of the previous government, cheques amounting to Rs five and ten were given to them.
  • Mr Manohar Lal said he had requested the Punjab Chief Minister through a written communication to provide water of Ravi river to Haryana which was at present flowing into Pakistan.
  • The state government is considering a pension scheme for traders and businessmen, and soon it would be implemented. In fact, the government has implemented welfare schemes for every section of the society.
  • The Chief Minister said the state government had made concerted efforts to improve the environment. In this direction, a massive campaign would be launched under which each student from classes VI to ten plus two would plant one tree for which incentive would also be given. This way 22 lakh plants would be planted.
  • Regarding giving Wakf Board land on lease, he said a written communication had been sent to the Central Government for amendment, and soon a decision would be taken.
  • Speaking on the occasion, State BJP President, Mr. Subhash Barala, said the opposition parties too appreciated the present state government but in the private. The state government has undertaken unprecedented development in the last three-and-a-half years.
  • Several schemes such as Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana, Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana have been implemented which provide direct benefit.
  • The Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, Mr. Krishan Kumar, said for the first time, a government had come to power in Haryana which thought about each section of the society.
  • Today, employment is being given to youth in a transparent manner. Similarly, online transfer policy has been implemented to put a check on corruption in transfers, he added.
