  • Chandigarh, June 23–The Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal, has announced that 24-hour power supply would be provided to Fatehabad district from July 1. Soon, 24-hour power supply would be ensured in all districts of the state.
  • Speaking at the Jan Samwad Sammelan, organised at Tohana in district Fatehabad today, he said the state government would set up its own power plant near coal mines to ensure uninterrupted power supply.
  • The previous government had made false promises but today people have electricity meters. When in power, they promised meters but now when out of power, these are saying they will throw them out. People can size up the reality, he added.
  • The Chief Minister said before the ensuing Kharif season,  Minimum Support Price would be fixed as per report of the Swaminathan Commission by adding 50 per cent profit to  farmers’ expenditure. The state government has been implementing recommendations of the commission and even Dr. Swaminathan had acknowledged this fact. 
  • In this direction, scheme like Fasal Bima Yojana have been implemented. In Haryana, so far farmers have paid premium of Rs 209 crore under this scheme whereas they have received claim of Rs 400 crore.
  • Recently, the farmers in Fatehabad had received claims of Rs 72 crore at the rate of 32,000 per farmer whereas during the tenure of the previous government, cheques amounting to Rs five and ten were given to them.
  • Mr Manohar Lal said he had requested the Punjab Chief Minister through a written communication to provide water of Ravi river to Haryana which was at present flowing into Pakistan. 
  • The state government is considering a pension scheme for traders and businessmen, and soon it would be implemented. In fact, the government has implemented welfare schemes for every section of the society.
  • The Chief Minister said the state government had made concerted efforts to improve the environment. In this direction, a massive campaign would be launched under which each student from classes VI to ten plus two would plant one tree for which incentive would also be given. This way 22 lakh plants would be planted.
  • Mr Manohar Lal said the process of adding more posts of HCS Allied was in the process and soon, after completion of the process, recruitment would be started. Similarly, recruitment to Group-D posts would also be started. The tradition of giving employment through contractor would be brought to an end. 
  • Regarding giving Wakf Board land on lease, he said a written communication had been sent to the Central Government for amendment, and soon a decision would be taken.
  • Speaking on the occasion, State BJP President, Mr. Subhash Barala, said the opposition parties too appreciated the present state government but in the private. The state government has undertaken unprecedented development in the last three-and-a-half years.
  • Several schemes such as Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana, Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana have been implemented which provide direct benefit.
  • The Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, Mr. Krishan Kumar, said for the first time, a government had come to power in Haryana which thought about each section of the society.
  • Today, employment is being given to youth in a transparent manner. Similarly, online transfer policy has been implemented to put a check on corruption in transfers, he added.
  • Chandigarh, June 23 – The use of LED bulbs and tube lights has been made mandatory in all offices of Haryana. In this direction, all Administrative Secretaries, Head of Departments and Managing Directors of Boards, Corporations and Public Undertakings have been directed through a written communication ensure replacing all inefficient lighting with LED lamps or tube lights by August 15, 2018 positively.
  • While stating this here today, a spokesman of New and Renewable Energy Department said that as per directions of the Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal all halogen, sodium bulbs and tube lights should be replaced with energy-efficient LED bulbs and tube lights. He said that the use of incandescent lamps and purchase of sodium vapour lamps by government sector, government aided sector, boards and corporations and autonomous bodies have already been banned.
  • The spokesman said that the officers have been directed to ensure compliance of these orders and a report on the present level of compliance may be sent to the office of Director, New and Renewable Energy Department within one month. They have also been directed to again verify compliance and send a report in this regard to the office Director, New and Renewable Energy Department by September 15, 2018 so that the government may be apprised of the status, he added.
