  • Chandigarh, April 16 – Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal today announced that 29 unauthorised colonies of Panipat would be regularized  and a new bus stand  would be constructed at Matlauda. In addition, Bus Q Shelters will also be constructed through Zila Panchayats in all such villages and towns where panchayat send a proposal in this regard.
  • The Chief Minister was addressing a public meeting after laying foundation stone of General Bus Stand and workshop of City Bus Stand, Panipat at village Siwah in Panipat today. A sum of Rs 17 crore will be incurred on these projects.
  • He directed the Chairperson, Zila Parishad, Panipat to immediately send a list of places where Bus Q Shelters need to be constructed in the district for the convenience of elders, divyangs and women. In addition, the government has added 600 new buses to the fleet of Haryana Roadways for their convenience, he added.
  • Describing the day a historic for the people of village Siwah and adjoining villages, he said that the new bus station would be constructed on six and a half acres of land. He said that the youth of Sewah village are serving in the army, paramilitary forces, police and other departments.  He expressed gratitude to the women of the village in maintaining peace at the time of the agitation.
  • He said that Member of Parliament, Mr Ashwani Chopra has adopted this village to accelerate the pace of development of the village. In future, government would give full support and cooperation to the schemes of Panchayati Raj Institutions for the development of village Siwah, he added.
  • Transport Minister, Mr Krishan Lal Panwar, MP, Mr Ashwani Chopra and MLAs, Mr Mahipal Dhanda, Mrs Rohita Rewari and Mr Ravinder Macchrauli were also present on this occasion.
  • Haryana Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal said that all the 14,000 ponds in the state have been divided into three categories and these will be developed according to the requirement of each pond.
  • Chandigarh, April 16 – Haryana government will honour all 22 medal winners of 21st Commonwealth Games in a function to be orgainsed here on April 26, 2018. Every gold medal winner will get cash award of Rs 1.5 crore, silver medal winner Rs 75 lakh and bronze medal winner Rs 50 lakh.
  • This was disclosed by Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal while addressing a public meeting at village Siwah in Panipat today.
  • Describing Haryana as a hub of sports, he said that Haryana is a small state having just two per cent population of the country, the players have brought laurels at national and international level with their performances. Indian contingent finished third in the medal tally with a total of 66 medals in CWG, Haryana players especially the women led the medal tally for India with a total of 22 individual medals which is 33 per cent. It is a matter of great pleasure that Ms Santosh Kumari, daughter of Siwah, had brought laurels to the state and country by winning gold medal last year in All India Police Games.
  • He said that Haryana is the only state in the country where cash award of Rs 6 crore is given for winning the gold medal in Olympics, Rs 4 crore for silver medal and Rs 2.5 crore for bronze medal. In addition, the players would be appointed as HCS and HPS officers as well as in other government jobs according to their achievements.

  • Chandigarh, April 16–The Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal, has said that the state government is committed to ensuring the safety and security of women in the state, and for this, a special force namely, ‘Durgashakti Vahini’, would be constituted to put a check on the crime against women.
  • Speaking after inaugurating Jaagriti Project in Jhajjar today, he said the main aim of this project was to ensure that girls felt secure at public places, workplaces and while travelling. 
  • It is the responsibility of the state government to provide free travel facility to girls up to their educational institutions. Announcing the launch of the ‘Chatra Parivahan Suraksha Yojana’, Mr Manohar Lal said regardless of the number of students in an educational institution, their demand for free travel facility would be met. Nodal officers are being appointed under this Yojana whom girls would be able to submit their requirements.
  • Unethical behaviour against women in any form would not be tolerated. After Madhya Pradesh, Haryana is the only state where provision of death penalty has been made for rape of children below 12 years of age. This step of Haryana Government is being appreciated and emulated by other states as well.
  • The Chief Minister expressed the hope that this law would be passed by the Lok Sabha for the entire nation. Social organisations would have to come forward and join hands with the state government in dealing with social evils such as female foeticide.
  • Expressing happiness over considerable improvement in sex ratio under the ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ Abhiyan, he said that 33 per cent reservation had been given to women in elections to the Panchayati Raj Institutions. Today 42 per cent women representatives are heading gram panchayats in the state.
  • Speaking on the occasion, MLA, Mr. Naresh Kaushik, said the present government had taken all responsibilities of girls from ensuring their survival, security and safety to education. It has been made possible due to the farsighted vision of the Chief Minister.
  • Appreciating Project Jaagriti, he said the positive ideology with which this project has been launched, would realise the vision of ‘Mhare Haryane Ki Shaan, Ladka-Ladki Ek Saman’.
  • Jhajjar Deputy Commissioner, Ms. Sonal Goyal, said there had been considerable improvement in the sex ratio in the district. When Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Abhiyan was launched, the sex ratio in Jhajjar was 824 which has now crossed 920 girls per 1,000 boys. 
  • Appreciating the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Abhiyan, UNICEF India Head, Dr Yasmin Ali Haque, said commendable job had been done to reduce the infant mortality rate.
  • Chandigarh, April 16–The Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal, today announced that under the new Sports Policy of the state government, no player would be deprived of government job. Provision of reservation has been made for sportspersons in HCS/HPS and in Group-D posts.
  • He was speaking after honouring Ms. Manu Bhaker of Jhajjar, who won gold medal in the Commonwealth Games with a turban and a cheque for Rs 1.5 crore in Jhajjar today. 
  • Mr Manohar Lal also honoured Bajrang Punia of Jhajjar, who had won gold medal in wrestling and members of the family of Mr. Somveer who had won Bronze Medal in the Games. 
  • Haryana has brought laurels to the nation by winning 33 per cent medals in the Commonwealth Games. All medal winners and participating players would be honoured according to the new Sports Policy of the state government. 
  • He said such players as participated in the Games but could not win medals too would be given cash award of Rs 7.5 lakh each. Out of the 38 players of Haryana who had participated in the Games, 22 had won medals.
  • This year India was at number three position in terms of medals. The Chief Minister expressed the hope that in future, it would occupy first position. He expressed happiness over the remarkable participation of girls in the field of sports.
  • Under the new Sports Policy it has been decided that cash prize will be credited directly to the bank accounts of the winning players. After presenting cheque for Rs 1.5 crore to Ms. Manu Bhaker, the Chief Minister informed her that the amount had already been sent to her bank account.
