Chandigarh,April 8--The Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal, has said that his government would not tolerate corruption at any cost. All cases of corruption whether belonging to the previous governments or the present government, would be thoroughly investigated and those found guilty would not be spared at any cost.

Interacting with mediapersons after the Virat Vyapari Sammelan in Rohtak today, he said everybody knew that there was rampant corruption during the regime of previous governments in transfers, matters of recruitment and Change of Land Use (CLUs).

Any gang caught in the act of corruption would be dealt with sternly under the law. Hints of corruption thrown by the media or the people would be taken cognizance of.

Answering a query on the issue of expansion of his Cabinet, Mr Manohar Lal said, “We have no such plan.You are writing on your own in newpapers regarding Cabinet expansion. I fail to understand if call on this issue should be taken by me or by the media”, he added.

In reply to question regarding the SYL, Mr Manohar Lal said the Supreme Court had already delivered its verdict and the state would get its rightful share in the river waters. “Kuch sire fire Neta jaroor hote hain jo Punjab mein kuch bhashan dete hain, Haryana mein kuch aur boltey hain, aur Delhi mein Kuch aur bolte hain. Insabse Haryana ki janta ko saavdhan rehna chahiye,” he added.

Chandigarh, April 8–The Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal, today announced a bonanza for traders which includes ownership rights for legal occupants of shops for more than 20 years, compensation for loss of stock and buildings, free-of-cost accidental insurance cover, and rebate on the collector rate for registry of shops.

Making these announcements while addressing Virat Vyapari Sammelan in Rohtak today, the Chief Minister said traders would be provided security, CCTV cameras would be installed in markets and committees would be constituted to redresstheir grievances at the district level.

Elaborating on these announcements, Mr Manohar Lal said compensation ranging from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 25 lakh (under compensation policy) for loss of stock and buildings and free-of-cost accidental insurance cover of Rs 5 lakh would be provided to the traders.

In both cases, premium would be paid jointly by the Haryana Government and the Haryana Vyapari Kalyan Board. All traders who would register themselves with the Board would get the cover, he added.

Twenty per cent rebate will be given on the collector rate for registry of shops. Legal occupants of shopsfor more than 20 years would be made eligible for ownership rights and registryof their shops would be done as per the current rates.

Regarding resolving issues pertaining to the Goods and Service Tax (GST), the Chief Minister said the demands would be processed through GST Council, the nodal authority for such issues. Similarly, their demands relating to increase in load carrying capacity of vehicles would also be sent to the Central Government.

Having been in the trading business for more than eight years, I can very well understand the problems faced by the traders,” the Chief Minister said assuring them that all issues would be resolved under a one-time settlement scheme.

The state is constantly working towards providing clean and safe environment for the traders. Before the present government assumed office, traders were held to ransom by criminals having political connections. But the present government has given them safe environment for their prosperity, he added.

The state government is constantly working for the benefit of traders and has set them free fromthe inspector raj. The entire system has been made online so that traders can not only access e-Tendering and enjoy the facility of E-assessment but can also make an appeal online. This would inject transparency in the system and help avoid the harassment of visiting the offices concerned again and again.

Mr Manohar Lal said traders constituted the backbone of the economy of the country and were a major source of revenue generation. This is the second such sammelan organized for the welfare of traders. Earlier, nobody paid any attention to their demands and problems.

Speaking on the occasion, BJP State President, Mr Subhash Barala, said the present government was constantly working forthe welfare of traders,farmers and labourers.

TheEducation Minister, Prof Ram Bilas Sharma, said it was only the present government that had taken the initiative of procuring the mustard crop.It is also working for the welfare of traders.

The Excise and Taxation Minister, Capt. Abhimanyu, said with the support of the present government, the traders had been able to prosper without any fear or threat.

The Industries and Commerce Minister, Mr Vipul Goel, said the Haryana Vyapari Kalyan Board had been set up for the welfare of traders and to resolve issues, if any.

The Vyapari Kalyan Board Chairman, Mr Gopal Sharan Garg, read out the charter of demands on behalf of the traders. During the last more than three-and-a-half-year tenure of the present government many decisions have been taken in the interest of traders, he added.

The Transport Minister, Mr Krishan Lal Panwar, Labour and Employment Minister, Mr Nayab Singh Saini, MP, Mr Ramesh Kaushik, MLA, Rewari, Mr Randhir Singh,and MLA Ladwa, Mr Pawan Saini, also spoke on the occasion.
