  • Chandigarh, April 6–The Haryana Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal, has assured the freedom fighters from the state that their demands would be considered sympathetically. India got Independence due to the hard work and supreme sacrifices made by our freedom fighters, he said.
  • The Chief Minister gave this assurance while speaking at the residence of Chairman, Swatantrata Senani Samman Samiti, Mr Lalti Ram, in Panchkula, near here, today. 
  • He enquired about the well-being of INA soldiers, widows of freedom fighters and their dependents who had come from various districts of the state and urged them to inculcate in children the spirit of love for the motherland.
  • The freedom fighters presented the Chief Minister with their charter of demands. It includes one per cent reservation for the fourth generation of freedom fighters in educational institutions, removal of condition of 75 per cent disability in case of son in getting pension given to unmarried and unemployed sons and daughters of freedom fighters, inclusion of dependents of the soldiers of INA in the ex-servicemen’s category for reservation and pension to the first generation successors of INA freedom fighters.
  • On this occasion, Mr Manohar Lal honoured the freedom fighters. They are Anand Lal from district Rewari, Duli Chand from Dwarika, Jagir Singh and Kehar Singh from Ambala, Bale Ram from Hisar, Bhag Mal Nambardar from Manesar, and Prabhi Devi, wife of Late Chandan Singh form Jind.
  •     Among the dependents, Ravinder Dahiya, Lekh Raj Raghav and Kapoor Singh Dalal from Gurugram, Bhagwan Phogat, Rajender Singh, Hari Singh, Umed Singh, Rakesh, Sanatan and Raj Karan from Charkhi Dadri, and Rambir from Jhajjar and Subedar Vijender Thakran from Gurugram, were presented with a shawl each.
  • Those present included Mr Lalti Ram, Chairman, Swatantrata Senani Samman Samiti, MLA Ambala, Mr Ratan Lal Kataria,  MLA, Panchkula, Mr Gian Chand Gupta, and others.
  • Chandigarh, April 6–The Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal, has said that corruption will not be tolerated in any office of any department of the state government and “even if I am found involved in corruption, I too should not be spared”. 
  • Interacting media persons   in Panchkula, near here, today, Mr Manohar Lal referred to the cash-for-job racket busted in the Haryana Staff Selection Commission, and said this had been going on since long. After he got complaints, he put the Flying Squad on the job. 
  • Investigations are being made to see how far and deep the tentacles of the racked had spread. Anybody found guilty, small or big, will not be spared. Money taken from the aspirants by those arrested for running the cash-for-jobs racket would be recovered and action taken against them. Those arrested are being interrogated, he added.
  • Chandigarh, April 6 - Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal will now also hold the portfolio of Information, Public Relations and Languages.
  • A notification to this effect has been issued in this regard which mentioned that Governor, Mr Kaptan Singh Solanki on the advice of the Chief Minister has allocated this portfolio to Chief Minister with immediate effect. The Urban and Local Bodies Minister, Mrs Kavita Jain now cease to hold the portfolio of the department.
  • Chandigarh, April 6 - ‘Gobar-dhan Yojna’, the Central Government scheme for managing and converting cattle dung and solid waste to manure and biogas  will be  launched at national level from Karnal  in Haryana on April 30, 2018.  The  Yojana will help in keeping the villages clean while increasing the income of farmers and cattle herder.
  • While stating this today, an official spokesman said that Union   Minister for Drinking Water and Sanitation, Mrs Uma Bharti,  Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal, senior officers of various departments of central government, subject experts and progressive farmers would participate in this programme. 
  • The spokesman said that highest in the world,  300 million cattle   in India produce three million cattle dung and cow urine every day. He said that few European countries and China has made large scale production of bio-gas by effective utilization of cattle dung. With the same concept, Prime Minister, Mr Narendra Modi had spoken about Galvanizing Organic Bio-Agro Resources Dhan (Gobar Dhan) in the country and converting waste to energy.  In the Union Budget presented during February this year, the Finance Minister had also  spoken about the provision made in the Budget for this scheme.
  • He said that this scheme  will prove to be quite helpful in increasing the income of farmers as energy is to be generated by utilizing waste. The bio-gas so produced under this scheme would not only help in saving electricity but also provide  clean environment to people residing in rural areas, he added. 
  • He said that under this scheme, one village each would be selected from every district in the country. He said that gram panchayat has a key role in this scheme under which bio-gas plants from cattle dung could be set up at individual or community level and also at the level of Self Help Groups and NGOs like Gaushalas.  He said that assistance of technical experts would be sought for the setting up these plants. For this, the Central and State Government would provide funds in the ratio of 60:40, which would depend upon the number of households in villages. As many as 700 districts would be covered under this scheme during the current financial year, he further added.
