- Chandigarh, Aug 21 – Haryana Sports and Youth Affairs Minister, Mr. Anil Vij said that medal winning players of the state in the ongoing 18th edition of the Asian Games being held at Jakarta would be honoured with cash prizes and jobs as per their eligibility. The players of Haryana have bagged two more medals today thus bringing the total number to five medals.
- Congratulating the winners and people of the state, Mr. Vij said that Rs 1.5 crore and a job would be given to Mr. Sanjeev Rajput who bagged silver medal and Rs 75 lakh and a job to Mr. Abhishek Verma who bagged bronze medal in shooting event.
- He said that a provision has been made to give cash prize of Rs three crore and Group A category job to a player bagging gold medal. Similarly, player bagging silver medal would be given Rs 1.5 crore and a job, and bronze medal winner would be given Rs 75 lakh and a job, he added.
- The Minister said that a total of nine medals have so far been bagged by the country in the ongoing Asian Games during last three days, in which players from Haryana are leading with five medals. He said that Mr. Bajrang Punia and Ms. Vinesh Phogat have won gold medals in wrestling, Mr. Lakshay Sheoran and Mr. Sanjeev Rajput have won silver medals and Mr. Abhishek Verma has won bronze medals in shooting events in the ongoing Asian Games.
