  • Chandigarh, August 28 – While directing the officers to show zero tolerance towards crime against women, Haryana Police Director General, Headquarters, Mr K.K. Mishra asked them to accord highest importance to women safety in their respective place of postings.
  • Mr Mishra was presiding over a meeting with Nodal Officers of Woman Police Stations at Police headquarters in Panchkula today.
  • Reviewing the situation of crime against women, he directed the officers to follow the time line and ensure putting-up challan in crime against woman cases within 30 days of the complaint registered as per announcement of the Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal. He said that State government is quite serious concerning crime against women and all the officers must ensure that the investigation officer should complete the investigation into a rape case in one month and in eve-teasing within 15 days.
  • Apart from this, he said that State government has passed a Bill which provides for capital punishment to those found guilty of raping girls aged 12 years or less. All the officers should segregate such cases and also monitor trial so as to ensure severe punishment to the accused.
  • He also briefed about the Durga Shakti App of the State Police which has been launched by the Chief Minister to provide immediate police help to women in case of any emergent situation.  He also directed the officers for creating public awareness to put-up check on women related crime.
  • SP Crime against Woman Mrs Manisha Choudhary said that all the Nodal Officers can reflect their queries on whatsapp group with regard to any clarification about the Durga Shakti App or others.   
  • Those present in the meeting included ADGP, Operations, Mr A.S. Chawla, IGP Modernization Mr H.S. Doon and DSP Law and Order, Mrs Mamta Sauda and other officers.
