- Chandigarh, August 28--As many as 1,36,571 workers have benefitted from the various schemes on which the state government has spent Rs.422 crore during the tenure of present Government. This aggregate includes 89,636 more beneficiaries as compared to those under the previous governments.
- This was disclosed by Haryana Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Mr Nayab Singh Saini, at a press conference here today. Media Advisor to Chief Minister, Mr Rajiv Jain, Principal Secretary, Labour Department, Mr Mahavir Singh and Director General, Information, Public Relations and Languages, Mr Sameer Pal Srow, were also present on the occasion.
- Mr Saini said through the Haryana Labour Welfare Board, a sum of Rs. 5.82 crore had been spent on 22,472 beneficiaries for providing uniforms, books etc. for the children of workers; Rs. 21.82 crore on 38,761 beneficiaries for scholarships, Rs. 0.02 crore on sports promotion and competitions, Rs. 8.32 crore for providing bicycles and tricycles to 27,554 beneficiaries; Rs. 0.22 crore on 1,605 beneficiaries for spectacles and hearing aids; Rs. 17.96 crore on 3,526 beneficiaries in the shape of Kanyadaan to female workers for their own marriage, and the marriage of the daughters of workers; Rs. 4.22 crore on 6,058 beneficiaries as financial assistance for delivery of female workers and wives of male workers.
- Likewise, Rs. 0.11 crore has been spent on giving financial assistance to 45 workers for disability during service due to accident or other reasons; Rs. 0.60 crore on 1,698 workers or their dependants as financial assistance for dental care; Rs. 6.56 crore on providing sewing machines to 28,500 female workers whereas no such benefit was given during the previous government, Mr Saini added.
- Similarly, Rs. 0.32 crore has been spent on 3,230 workers for giving them the benefit of LTC, Rs. 18.20 crore on 84 beneficiaries under the Mukhya Mantri Shram Puruskar Scheme, Rs. 0.83 crore on 495 beneficiaries as financial help to the handicapped, blind and mentally disorders wards of workers; Rs. 19.95 crore on 1,928 widows or dependants of deceased workers; Rs. 6.72 crore on 141 beneficiaries under the Mukhya Mantri Sharmik Samajik Suraksha Yojna, respectively.
