- Chandigarh, September 7 – Jagriti Yojna will be started by Haryana Women Development Corporation to create awareness among rural and urban women and involve them in the schemes implemented at local level under which 7350 women will be benefitted.
- While giving details an official spokesperson said that the main objective of the Jagriti Yojana is to ensure the involvement of women in the schemes being run at local level. Under this scheme, one day awareness camps would be set up at districts and block levels. A total of 7350 women will be made aware under the scheme including 50 women Panches and Sarpanches of 25 villages of each block.
- He said that in order to encourage the women and girls of the State for higher education in the country and abroad for graduation, post-graduation at doctoral and post-doctoral level, the Corporation is providing interest subsidy of 5 per cent per annum. Interest subsidy of Rs. 4.82 crore has been given by various banks to 2048 girls and women for higher education up to June 2018. He said that a loan of Rs 1.50 lakh was provided for women for setting up business so as to make them economically independent. Under this, a loan of Rs. 32.67 crore has been provided to 4566 women till June 2018.
- The spokesperson said that women are provided training by the Women’s Awareness and Management Academy (WAMA). The academy has provided training to members of Mahila Mandals, Anganwadi workers and members of Self Help Groups etc. and till June 2018, 947 trainees were trained in 46 Batches at an expense of Rs. 51.13 lakh.
