  • Chandigarh, Sept 10 – Haryana Government would soon launch a toll free number for farmers to promptly inform about the damage caused to crops due to natural calamities. Till now, only the Central Government has made available such toll free number.
  •  Haryana Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister, Mr. O.P. Dhankar gave this information while replying to a question of MLA, Mr. Parminder Singh Dhull during the ongoing session of Haryana Vidhan Sabha, here today.
  •  Mr. Dhankar informed the House that during last three years, the State Government has distributed Rs 932 crore under Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY). He said that the PMFBY is proving to be a boon for the farmers. The opposition has been misleading and they had never thought of crop insurance, he added.
  •  He said that farmers can give information regarding damage caused to crops due to natural calamities such as hailstorms and water logging, within 48 hours to the concerned Deputy Director Agriculture, Sub Divisional Officer (Civil) or Tehsildar, who would assess the situation and inform the insurance company.
