  • Chandigarh, Sept 12 – With a view to make the state pollution free, the Haryana Government would spend Rs 137.84 crore on crop residue management during the current financial year.
  • This was informed by Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister, Mr. O.P. Dhankar who called on the Governor, Mr. Satyadev Narayan Arya at Haryana Raj Bhavan, here today.
  • Mr. Dhankar said that Custom Hiring Centres were being established at a distance of every 50 kilometres in the state to collect crop residue at one place. As many as 900 Custom Hiring Centres are being established in the state. Apart from this, different equipment are also being made available to farmers with subsidy up to 80 per cent. In this direction, awareness campaign is being run in the entire state. People are being informed about ill effects of burning crop residue and for this purpose, teams of the Department have been constituted. He said that documentary films are also being shown to farmers. Ethanol oil can also be produced by using crop residue and for this, a Memorandum of Understanding has been signed by the government with Indian Oil Corporation, he added.
  • He said that biogas scheme has also been launched under which 2,212 biogas plants have so far been established in the state. Under this scheme, subsidy of Rs 10,000 per plant is being given to farmers.
  • He said that premium facility is being given on different crops under Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana. Under this Yojana, 3.30 lakh farmers of the state have so far been provided compensation of Rs 604 crore.
