  • Chandigarh September 13: Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal announced to constitute Faridabad Metropolitian Development Authority (FMDA) on the pattern of Gurugram Metropolitian Development Authority (GMDA) to provide basic infrastructure facilities to the people residing in Faridabad.
  • This and several other announcements were made by Mr Manohar Lal while addressing a press conference here today. He said that since Faridabad is the second largest city of the State after Gurugram, it has been decided to constitute FMDA to make available all infrastructure facilities to the people and also address their problems.
  • He said that the present State Government has constituted the GMDA on August 12, 2017 thus fulfilled the long pending demand of the people. The residents of Gurugram have been demanding for the setting up of a local development authority since 1988 but their request during the previous government fell on deaf ears.  He said that the GMDA has already started working and providing various services online including Change of Land Use (CLU), approval of Building Plan and Right of Way (RoW), stadium booking and infrastructure plan. The Authority has adopted the paper less concept for all its related services, he added.
  • The Chief Minister said that recently he has launched City Bus Service in Gurugram under which 25 buses would ply initially on different routes. The tender for 200 more buses is in the pipeline. He said that development works worth of Rs 1001 crore of GMDA are in progress. Under this, optical fiber is being laid in streets in front of every household in the entire city. Out of this, one line has been exclusively dedicated for providing government services to the people free of cost.
