- Chandigarh, Sept. 15 – In a major break-through, Special Task Force (STF) of Haryana Police unearthed a manufacturing unit of illegal liquor operating from village Thol in Ismailabad police station area in Kurukshetra district and arrested 16 persons including 14 belongs to Uttar Pradesh in this connection.
- While stating this here today, a spokesman of Police Department said that acting on a tip off, police team alongwith excise department personnel raided Surya Sheller in Thol village and recovered illegal liquor in huge quantity. The illicit liquor factory was being operated under the guise of sheller. STF sleuths also recovered illegal liquor and other equipments used in liquor manufacturing. 16 persons were arrested, while two other managed to escape.
- He said that arrested accused were identified as Krishan, a resident of village Madhogarh in Mahendragarh, Umed Singh of village Shamri in Gohana and 14 others of UP namely Pawan, Bablu, Devender, Prem Lal, Shiv Shankar, Bunty son of Bhuri Singh, Ram Niwas, Bhuwesh Kumar, Sunil Kumar Gaurav, Bijender, Bunty son of Shyam Babu, Mulayam Singh and Mahesh.
- After getting a strong input about the illegal manufacturing unit, the spokesman said that STF sleuths immediately raided and seized 5388 bottles and 9750 quarter bottles under the name of ‘Malta’, 1980 bottles and 17150 quarter bottles under the name of ‘Raseela Santra’, about 14000 empty bottles, 13000 empty quarter bottles, 15000 cardboard boxes, 1500 litres spirit, six tanks of 5000-litre capacity, one large RO, two canters and huge stock of seals, boxes, labels and holo-gram.
- He said that a case under different sections of IPC and Excise Act was registered against all accused.
- Meanwhile Director General of Police, Mr B.S. Sandhu congratulated ADGP Crime, Mr P.K. Agrawal and the entire team of STF working under his supervision including IG STF Saurabh Singh, DIG STF, Mr Sateesh Balan and SP STF Mr Ashwin Shenvi for their significant achievement in busting the illegal unit of liquor.
- It may be recalled that STF had recently unearthed an illegal liquor factory engaged in bottling of IMFL and other brands operating from a house located in village Baiyanpur Khurd of Sonipat district.
