- Chandigarh, September 28– J.C. Bose (erstwhile YMCA) University of Science and Technology, YMCA Faridabad today celebrated ‘Surgical Strike Day’ (Prakaram Parv) with great fervour to mark the second anniversary of the Indian Army's strike against terrorists operating across the Line of Control in Pakistan occupied Kashmir. Students of the University participated in various activities such as declamation contest, paid musical tributes to the martyrs and conveyed messages to the soldiers to mark the occasion.
- It may be noted that the University Grants Commission has asked all the Universities to observe September 29 as Surgical Strike Day. The University organised a talk session by inviting Colonel Rishi Pal Goyal to sensitise students about sacrifices made by the armed forces. Col. Goyal, who fought Indo-Pakistan War of 1971 and served the Indian army in Kashmir during 1990s, shared his experiences with the students. The program, presided over by Prof. Dinesh Kumar, was organised under the supervision of office of Dean Student Welfare coordinated by Dr. Sonia Bansal. Registrar Dr. S.K. Sharma was also present on this occasion.
- In his message to the students, Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dinesh Kumar said that the contribution of armed forces in war and peace is very valuable to every Indian as they have always brought laurels to the nation. The events like 'Kargil Vijay Diwas', 'Vijay Diwas' and ‘Surgical Strike Day or Parakram Parv’ are the great opportunities for us to pay our tribute and gratitude towards the defence forces.
- On the occasion, the students conveyed their sentiments towards the armed forces through messages which would be forwarded to India Gate for display and musical tribute would be paid in the honour of war heroes and martyrs through their performances. A declamation contest was organised in the University in which Harish Mukhija bagged first position. Shivam and Deepanshi stood on second and third position.
- The students also took the pledge to support Indian defence forces. The students were encouraged to visit India Gate, New Delhi to show their support to the armed forces where a three day mega event has been organised by the Ministry of Defence to celebrate the second anniversary of surgical strike as 'Parakram Parv', commemorating the valour and sacrifice of the armed forces.
- The University would soon organise a blood donation camp as a tribute to endless sacrifices and salute to the gallantry of armed forces.
